Saying what we all think
#MexicoGP 🇲🇽 | Lewis Hamilton says Charles Leclerc has a ‘do or die’ mentality but it shouldn’t be like that:
“Before I joined this team, when I was in Mercedes, I watched and witnessed the back-and-forth between Charles and Carlos. Several races where they were battling so much that the person ahead just pulled away, and they had the pace to actually win the race.”
“It’s one thing when that's happening in fourth and fifth as opposed to first and second, and you lose the win. That's significant. The guy is 28 years old, so I don't think it's an age thing. I think it's a mentality thing.”
“It's like do or die. Like, either I win, or none of us do, and it shouldn't be that. It should be, us having got that one-two, which is still a good feeling.”
“At Silverstone, I could have gone all kamikaze on him and taken him off and lost us the the win, but instead a one-two was there, and I think we got a one-two, or was it a one-three? I'm happy for the team to have experienced that. I'm hopeful we'll work towards a better place in the future.”

Lewis Hamilton sending massage to all those older people.
"The challenging. uh, mindset that some people try to apply to me, that, uh, that and people of like older age, let's say, you get slower and all these different things. I told them on Thursday, I'm built differently. I'm not the same. You can't compare me to anybody else, and I know inside me I still got more to give, I still got more in me, and that's why I'm still here, giving it absolutely everything"
Great explanation but F1 drivers should have 100% power available to them at all times and up to them how to use their power to be the fastest in relation to conditions.
FIA implementing softwares to reduce available power feels like amateur level stuff.
Following the software bug that left cars crawling on the formation lap at the Bahrain / Malaysian GP, there's a fair bit of misinformation going round about how engine modes work. So let's dive in.
Every car runs the same standard ECU, the central unit controlling the engine. It's made by Motion Applied, formerly McLaren Applied. Not the F1 McLaren. A different McLaren.
The ECU is loaded with two separate sets of modes: the team's and the FIA's.
The team's modes are their racing modes: qualifying, race, energy saving, recharge, "party mode", etc.
The FIA's modes are safety modes: VSC, wet running, etc. Sunday's bug was in the wet-weather energy management, which cuts maximum electrical deployment from 350kW to 250kW in certain sectors.
The FIA's software is developed together with the teams, and the same release goes to every competitor. Everyone runs identical safety modes, and everyone can see that they do.
The only way to load or update modes is to physically connect a computer to the car via the umbilical and transfer the configuration to the ECU. No over-the-air updates, neither from the FIA or the teams.
Which is exactly why Sunday's fix took time. The FIA issued updated software to all teams, and each team then had to install it on their own cars before the race could start.
Nor can anyone remotely activate a mode. Modes are selected by the driver on the steering wheel. When a driver asks for more power, the team doesn't flip a switch. They tell him which combination of inputs gets him there.
Same with the safety modes. If race control decides conditions call for one, it isn't a remote command that switches the modes. It's a message to teams and drivers to select it.
Once a mode is active, the software in the car makes decisions by itself, such as limiting deployment sector by sector. That's what went wrong on Sunday. Code already in the car misbehaving, not someone in race control pressing a button.
Tldr: Race Control doesn't have a remote control for engine modes.
Are you embarrassed or ashamed of yourselves @GNev2 @Carra23 ? Because this is factual and highly embarrassing for professional “pundits”
Non mais @CanalplusF1 @canalplus @Julien_FEBREAU , vous êtes serieux de mettre un interview des gens pendant la cooldown room!?!? PLUS JAMAIS!! On veut entendre la cooldown room. Et meme sans traduction.
Merci d’avance
