This is what I was diagnosed with when I was 12; the myocolonic jerks were what I first recognized.
My current neurologist thinks it's actually Juvenile Absence Epilepsy, and I think they're right, but it doesn't affect treatment that much. #JME #JAE #EpilepsyAwareness

(To be more specific, I'm MOSTLY sold on JAE. It's very rare to have absences very commonly in JME, whereas untreated I had them all the time; it's also common to have GTCs start shortly after JME presents, but I didn't until I was 21, after being put on/stopping Wellbutrin--
--which is contraindicated for epilepsy--, AND during my last week of college. I also get a bunch of absences before tonic clonics, not a bunch of myoclonics.
BUT, it's uncommon to HAVE myoclonics w/ JAE. So. Maybe my brain said por que no los dos. #JAE #JME #EpilepsyAwareness
