is there ever a case in web form for numeric input that a space would be a valid input? No? Then why in the f*ck does every form designing idiot not chomp() the whitespace off of input data in numeric field inputs? Fu*k I love scrolling up and down webforms to find the error.
And to top it the fu*k off, it was import duties on a Vinyl Album, which are SPECIFICALLY EXCLUDED from import tariffs. Get you sh*t in a pile @FedExHelp
"Fred, [a Labrador retriever], apparently decided that this was now his problem. 🤣
Sometimes I think Labradors are so ridiculously friendly that evolution simply forgot to explain to them that not every small creature they meet is their responsibility.
Back in May 2018, at Mountfitchet Castle in Essex, England, a 10-year-old Labrador named Fred somehow ended up becoming a single father to nine ducklings after their mother disappeared and while the staff were understandably worried about what would happen to the little birds, Fred apparently decided that this was now his problem.
And the best part is that the ducklings seemed perfectly happy with this arrangement, following him around, climbing onto his back, cuddling up to him and even accompanying him into the castle moat for a swim, because apparently nobody involved in this situation was particularly concerned about the fact that their new father was a dog.
You'd think that raising nine children who aren't even the same species as you would be enough parenting experience for one lifetime, especially when your children insist on using you as public transport, but Fred apparently disagreed.
Because in 2022, when he was around 15 years old, another mother duck disappeared, leaving behind 15 ducklings, and Fred once again took on the job of looking after them. At an age when most dogs would probably prefer a comfortable bed, a quiet afternoon and absolutely no responsibilities, this Labrador somehow found himself running a daycare center for an entire flock of tiny yellow creatures. And honestly, I find it fascinating that an animal can be so gentle and tolerant towards creatures that aren't even remotely related to it.
Fred didn't care that they were ducks. They were small, they needed someone, and apparently that was enough. Although I do wonder whether, at some point, he looked at all 15 of them sitting on his back and thought: "I really need to stop making eye contact with unattended children."
Key takeaway: "consumers are not rational agents". Solid post, worth a read.
re: airbnb discourse
in college I worked as a server at an upscale steakhouse. we had a few different steak sauces that were made from scratch daily. they were expensive to make, and less than half of the customers that ordered steak wanted sauce, so the restaurant charged $3 for it
we got complaints constantly. just at my own tables, half a dozen times a week I'd get complaints about being "nickel and dimed" for $3 of sauce on a $70 steak. a few times a month someone would mention it in an angry online review, or ask to speak to a manager and demand that it be removed from the bill because "who the hell charges for condiments?"
after several years of this, finally management had enough. they raised the price of every steak by $3, and now complimentary sauce was included with each steak on request. want to hazard a guess about how many customers complained about the $3 price increase on steak? essentially zero.
it was great, from the restaurants perspective! no more complaints, and instead of making $3 on 40% of steak orderers, they made $3 on all of them. and the customers were much happier, despite this deal being absolutely, unequivocally worse for them.
consumers are not rational agents from microeconomics textbooks. very often the *feeling* of what they're being charged for matters way more than the absolute value of what they're being charged. I think that's more or less what happening with airbnb. people don't want to be charged a cleaning fee and then also told they have to clean, even if in the counterfactual world the additional cleaning fee is more than they'd be willing to pay someone to do the required cleaning. a $100 cleaning fee *feels* better than a $50 cleaning fee + "load the dishwasher and take the trash out to the dumpster", even though most people would not pay $50 to not have to do that.
Can Quen27B local LLM model do the hardware reverse engineering that is getting blocked by Claude Opus now? Need to fix a printer, and see what's going on with my Samsung TV.
Just started on this AI journey bout 4 months ago. I don't open a code editor, Github etc. Just a terminal window, full screen. Claude Code pulls requirements from Slack; creates the ADO Feature and Stories, plans the code, writes the code, tests the code, creates the PR.
Damn,
关于,Thariq(@trq212),可能很多非开发者对这个名字还不熟悉。
Thariq
向上的竞赛(Race to the top)。
I'll desk check the code for anything I'm doing that's novel, and I have gates to manually run the new code in a build harness, but I'm not keying in new code or editing files. The PR is reviewed by another agent (Copilot), Claude Code resolves the issues, then a human checks.
Thanks, Thariq (@trq212) for the awesome tool set in Claude Code! It's good to be back in the terminal again after 20+ years of GUI copy-paste slop.

Okay this was pretty cool. My Grok bot assistant (Pip) crunched my analytics, current OCR payouts, and my Video Kickstart Bonus ($500 potential on the Nov 18 payout), then built a budget for a solo ~6-day Yellowstone trip in January. Pip also mapped content ideas and a reminder calendar across the next three pay periods.
Nature and wildlife don’t go viral like rage-bait or politics, but humor does travel! So I'm going to try to lean harder into memes and jokes (you guys loved that mountain goat AllTrails post). Goal: cover about 2/3 of the trip with 𝕏 payouts from my content, not debt. That would require roughly 2M verified impressions between now and beginning of December.
What I need from you: don’t lurk. Reply, quote, share the nature posts! I appreciate every comment and share you guys give me! Drop a Yellowstone winter tip for me or tell me something you'd like for me to capture out there!
Which is why my primary music service is Tidal.

Important note for GOG @CyberpunkGame users - you have a couple of steps to get the 2.5 update installed!
Big thanks to @crushovitz_b for solving this. You have to go to manage installation, then uncheck automatically update to new version and select Version 2.5
Amazing track from @Grimezsz - thanks for letting us use it in streams for a couple of years!
