Ed Miliband’s expensive mad dash to net zero has close to zero impact on climate change. So small as to be unmeasurable.
Replying to @afneil
The effects of climate change cost more than the money you would save. This is why you can only get a job talking about stuff instead of doing it

@BethRigby says this is a PM trying to tough it out. The public don’t buy it. This looks less like resilience and more like delusion. He’s a Prime Minister with a popularity rating below –20%, a PM in name only — and one who simply isn’t listening to the British public.

Starmer nods through another £18billion on benefits but not a penny on defence leading to the global embarrassment of Greece, France and now Spain having sent warships to defend Cyprus ( we have two bases there) and yet ours won’t turn up until next week.
Labour will always defend the idle, but seldom our national Interests. Especially if there’s a Muslim issue.
I sometimes wonder if Ed Miliband and Co want Iran to have the nuclear weapon,

Stop blaming Queen Elizabeth for what Andrew has become. He was a grown man who shouldn’t have needed his Mother to tell him mixing with paedos was wrong and doing business with dodgy people would end badly. What happens to him is on HIM not his Mother express.co.uk/news/royal/217…

Whenever there’s criticism of Andrew daughters it’s always said in defence that Eugenie,35, is co- founder of the Anti-Slavery Collective which supports sex trafficking victims. Thanks to good work by Times columnist Janice Turner it’s not clear what “support” if any she’s done.
Three years ago the charity’s launch dinner ( big affair with even Idris Elba gracing the room) raised almost £1.3million.
Today that £1.3million still sits in the bank.
Last year’s accounts showed they had spent £95K on “programmes” with £191K on salaries.
Shouldn’t it be the other way round?
As Ms Turner points out the Charity Commissioner says a charity should keep 3-9 months of running costs in reserve but the rest should be spent as was intended by the donors.
Eugenie and her sister married well as they say ( their money-grasping would have mother approved) but since neither are working royals hard to devine why they both retain flats at St James’s and Kensington Palace.
Also a puzzle how she goes on holidays costing £300K but has a salary of £19.5K.
Clearly it’s an appropriate time to slim down the Monarchy. A good start would be to dump Eugenie and her sister Beatrice .

If McSweeney has to resign because he advised Starmer to appoint Mandelson why does Starmer not have to resign for actually taking the decision to appoint Mandelson?

This is the nub of it for the PM. He confirms here that he DID know of Mandelson's ongoing friendship with Epstein.
Badenoch: Can the Prime Minister tell us, did the official security vetting he received mention Mandelson's ongoing relationship with the paedophile Jeffrey Epstein?
Starmer: Yes it did. As a result, as a result, various questions were put to him.
Badenoch says this is shocking. PM's defence is he was misled on the depth of that friendship, that Mandelson misrepresented his relationship and he lied throughout the process.
He tells MPs they will see the full documentation & see for themselves the extent of that misrepresentation. But this is what MPs are very upset about
This is very difficult for Starmer. Trying to get on front foot, removing Mandelson from the privy council, strong words denouncing Mandelson for 'betraying sir country, our parliament, our party'
BUT Badenoch keeps circling back to the point that so angered MPs back in Sept. Why was Mandelson appointed IF his friendship with Epstein, post his prosecution, was known to PM. That more awkward for PM. Repeats that he did not know the depth of friendship at time of appointment

Well, he’s made such a wonderful job of rebuilding Britain it’s only natural they’d want him to rebuild Gaza.

Labour’s addiction to debt continues. The government borrowed another £11 billion in November taking the budget deficit (financial year to date) to £132 billion — the highest borrowing since records began outside the pandemic.
Borrowing continues to rise to finance record public sector wage rises and ever higher inflation-busting welfare spending.
Public sector pay rose by 7.6% over the last year, the highest rate of growth since records began in 2001 — and almost double the 3.9% increase in the private sector.
Socialism in action.
