Over 1 billion people live with hypertension, yet more than half don’t know they have it because traditional screening relies on periodic clinic visits or cumbersome cuff measurements. In our @Nature publication, together with @BIDMChealth, and @harvardmed we present a multimodal artificial intelligence system capable of passively detecting signs of hypertension using a consumer smartwatch without requiring any cuff calibration. Validated against the clinical gold standard of 24-hour ambulatory blood pressure monitoring (ABPM) across five U.S. sites, the system achieves accuracy levels comparable to traditional cuff-based diagnostic workflows for both initial and confirmatory screening.👇

instagram.com/p/DezSsUYgfdm/… I love the energy on this platform. A lot of folks are making something or the other. I do feel that things need a dash of style and that's what we bring to the table.

Last night an AI agent performed brain surgery on a mouse. We gave it 19 gene therapy vectors in a spreadsheet, a mouse model of epilepsy, access to a motorize surgery rig with cameras and one goal: reduce seizures. It picked the drug. It picked the brain region. It derived the coordinates from three papers. Then it drove the stereotaxic arms into the brain and injected 250 nanolitres while watching the entry site through the rig camera for bleeding. A licensed vet gated every irreversible step and held a physical kill switch to stop the AI agent. Thread on what it decided, what it saw, and the moment it refused to let me override it. [Writing this on the spot out of excitement, but I've been 18hrs in front of my laptop coding and coordinating this, so keeping it brief and descriptive, more cohesive thoughts on this soon...]

Introducing Reality-Aware Rendering in @Simulon, a completely new way to create with the real world. Place neural assets with your phone and act out the scene. When you stop recording, Simulon renders the take, reading everything in it (what you do, what you say and the place around you), and your assets respond to all of it. The final is regenerated from your recording: a new performance of the scene, not a copy of the footage. Available now on iPhone. Coming to Android soon.

Surprise 1: Anthropic acquired a one-person biotech . . . Surprise 2: that person is me Surprise 3: I’m here to tell you all about it Yes, this is what you think it is; after 6 yrs of increasingly loose anonymity: the Professor Oak reveal post …and yes, it has gotten so boring around here that I’m literally doxxing myself to spice up the timeline ------- Ok, allow me to introduce myself. My name is Cody Tranbarger. I mostly tweet, but occasionally find time to dabble in drug dev & starting/building biotechs. My past lives span the VC, crossover, startup continuum; Prof Oak has been my way of keeping a digital foot in those worlds, despite having my physical feet planted elsewhere. The past 18 mo, ‘elsewhere’ was Mithril Medicine, a co. I founded to develop bsAbs for LAMA2-CMD & other ECM-related genetic diseases. Mithril was born out of hands-on building with @MikeNGladstone, @JasonPaulRhodes, @LifeSciVC, & team @atlasventure. Somehow, I made enough half-decent calls along the way (even a broken clock is right twice a day, eh?) to convince them Mithril/I warranted a small seed. While I can hardly rationalize such an outrageously cavalier bet, I’m grateful for it, & I'd partner with Atlas again in a heartbeat. In typical AV fashion, Mithril’s primordial form was virtual, decentralized, & ultra-lean. This stage tends to be short-lived, but for Mithril, it worked surprisingly well, for surprisingly long, thanks in part to the rapid maturation of the AI tools I used liberally. Eventually, Mithril became a bit of an experiment itself - to find the upper bound of how far it could scale as a single operator + a bunch of Claude (+ a stellar bench of part-time consultants). In parallel, I started spending time with @nc_frey, @an1lam, & @CoefficientBio team; and promptly experienced, for the 1st time, AI at the frontier. Soon thereafter, Mithril stopped looking like an experiment, & started looking like a preview of an entirely new operating model. From that spark came “Pipeline-in-a-Person.” The idea immediately resonated when we shared it here back in April; and it was central to the shared vision that led to Anthropic’s acquisition of Mithril, & my joining the team. Why join Anthropic? Three reasons. (1) For Mithril, the programs continue, with more resources & infrastructure behind them, and as much Claude as I can put to work. (2) For me, the chance to start several more programs, & find out how many one person can actually run in parallel - an almost unprecedented luxury for a curious drug hunter. (3) For our mission, a path to institutionalize & scale this new way of working, then put it in the hands of all of biopharma, all over the world - which, candidly, I find the most energizing. Will AI x Bio cure diseases? Unequivocally yes, imo… but not by the route that gets the most airtime. Rather than timeline acceleration & compression, I see orchestration & parallelization as today's low-hanging fruit. Most drug hunters see a handful of go/no-go calls in a career, & spend entirely too much of the rest trading emails (my inbox can attest). Give them the bandwidth to run several programs at once, and the time to focus on scientific judgment, and I’m willing to bet they’ll make better calls. And at scale, better calls translate to more drugs, higher hit rates, broader patient impact, & likely, a disease or 10 or 100 cured. I couldn't be more excited to build toward that future @AnthropicAI. Finally, a heartfelt thank you to BioTwitter/X. The end of anonymity is bittersweet, but if anyone’s earned a proper introduction, you all have. It’s difficult to overstate how much this app has done for me: a decade of education, plenty of friends, many job opportunities, several mentors, a few investors, even a co-founder (fmr). It was the generosity of this community that inspired me to start posting 6 years ago, after just as many years lurking. I hope I’ve been able to pay it forward, in my own small way. But, to be clear, Prof Oak isn’t going anywhere. Same beat, same themes, and now, a front-row seat to drug development at the frontier. Stay tuned for dispatches from the trenches; and remember... Gotta Cure 'Em All

Last month a top cardiologist told my team that he is upset that we didnt book him and wife to Paris. So stopped using. Another wants us to pay 15L for his conference so he can recco product to his hospital. Yet another is upset that a sales girl is no more attending his OT. Send her not him. Another roadblocks procurement at govt hospital where he is HOD until we pay for a trial at his private hospital. (In that govt hospital 5 mothers are dying every month due to lack of our device)

lol dude this is nothing. You are over reacting. This is pretty normal. In a few days, I have to go to court in a legal battle between us, a transport company and one of India’s biggest Ecom marketplace. We made private label goods for them. They did not have space in their Ecom warehouses to keep, cos if they inward the goods, they will have to pay as grn occurs. So as demand was less for their own private label and to maintain their own cash flow, they told is to give goods to the transporter who would keep it in his own warehouse. This was some shady transporter buy they told us so we kept it, so did other dozens of manufacturers. Cos goods were not getting in warded, the transporter thought let me just start selling these goods, so he sold the goods and no one knew for months. And then he closed the company and ran away. Now Ecom company said they are not liable and most left the organisation, with time writing paras on LinkedIn on amazing growth they gave to the Ecom pvt label. If you wanna do business in India, just be ready cos anything can happen.
We talk about ease of doing business in India and compare it with China, there’s one big difference I’ve noticed: In India, no one wants to feel accountable. Let me share my experience with one of India’s biggest shipping companies, Delhivery. I’m a co-founder of an electrolyte brand. We sent two packages worth almost ₹1lakh to Ladakh for the Ladakh Marathon because we wanted to sell them at the event. They failed to deliver them and shipped them back to us. For the next 40–45 days, there was no update on where the packages were. We kept following up, but nobody gave us a clear answer. After 45 days, they told us the packages were lost and simply closed the case. We were shocked by the lack of accountability. No explanation, no apology, no guilt. Just, “It’s lost.” And when we asked why, how it happened, or what the next step was, nobody had an answer. Delhivery team doesn’t answer calls. We tried reaching out to different people, and most of them either said, “It’s not my department,” or cut the call. Our team got stuck in an endless loop. Shipping aggregator says to contact the shipper. Shipper says to contact someone else. Delhivery team doesn’t answer. And the biggest loser is the entrepreneur who is willing to do business. I’ve dealt with Chinese suppliers and logistics companies before, and the difference in accountability and service is very noticeable. They are desperate to do business with you. They take ownership, respond quickly, and try to solve the problem. That’s what ease of doing business should feel like, not this, definitely!

We were lucky enough to see the latest version of Roadrunner in action for the first time in our Cambridge lab! Our colleagues from RAI’s Zurich office gave us a preview of their IROS demo and did a Q&A after. What do you think of the new design?

pretty sure we jumped higher than the aircraft how it works: - flies like a plane but has no wings - edfs blow directly over a jetfoil to generate lift (coanda effect) - can hover in place in the air - uses thrust vectoring for drone-like maneuverability while keeping cruise efficiency flew for 3 seconds, cut throttle, hit the floor, 10/10 day

We spent weeks grading robot training datasets and killed a myth on the way. No score can tell expert data collectors from beginners. companies charge a premium for expert made data. that premium is based on vibes.
