FISA 702 is too often used to spy on Americans WITHOUT A WARRANT! The Firm™️ wants Congress to reauthorize FISA 702 next week—without a warrant requirement OR meaningful debate—by attaching it to a massive spending bill. That’s unacceptable. Please like & share if you agree.

Completely unacceptable. The censors don’t get to set the rules for congressional oversight. Use the power of the purse to bring this recalcitrant administration to heel.

The best approach is for Congress to severely punish any executive branch personnel who obstruct its investigations using the inherent contempt power which authorizes fines, incarceration & other sanctions after conviction in legislative floor trials. bit.ly/2LunBZU

Truly. @TheJusticeDept certainly didn’t treat Christopher Steele the same way. Here’s the declassified criminal referral. It informed @TheJusticeDept that Steele’s claims to the @FBI as repeatedly described by the gov’t to the FISA court were directly contradicted by his sworn admissions during related litigation in London (bottom of memo p. 4). No indictment. No serious investigation. Steele’s claims weren’t hidden deep in the FBI’s files and ignored for years. Instead they served as the fuel for years of bizarre hysteria where people who wanted to believe them assumed they were true and insisted that it was up to others to disprove them. judiciary.senate.gov/imo/med…
It really is crazy that the FBI arrested a source who turned out to be wrong, or lying, about specific allegations against the Bidens (the overall arrangement remains corrupt), but never arrested Christopher Steele for lying about Trump and Russia. Or… maybe not so crazy, really

Does it make any difference if the bill has been declared a must-pass proposal by the media, including @WSJ, which — apparently without ever seeing the bill — declared that any Republican voting against it would be harming national security just to score cheap political points?
If a border-security bill is written in secret, and then disappears before anyone sees it, did it ever really exist?

Biden loves the Ukraine/border deal. So does Schumer. So does McConnell. And the MSM. The rest of us haven’t seen it. But we’re nervous about it. Partly because of what we know about it. Partly because of what we don’t know. And partly because of who likes it.

Texas has transported over 100,000 migrants to sanctuary cities to relieve overwhelmed border towns. Until Biden reverses course on his open border policies, Texas will continue transporting migrants to these cities. We will not back down on our efforts to secure the border.

How does the DC swamp deny you representation? Unrelated, unpopular, and unconstitutional legislation is inserted into a popular bill. This week, they’re extending the FISA 702 warrantless surveillance program by attaching it to the annual bill that authorizes our US military.

I’m a “hell no” on reauthorization of the FISA 702 program that allows warrantless surveillance of Americans. But it looks like the Senate will attach the 702 program to the National Defense Authorization Act tomorrow, and the House will possibly vote on it Thursday. Shame.

Tomorrow the Senate has the chance to remove FISA 702 from the NDAA. The Senate rules can make this happen if just 41 senators agree. FISA should be reviewed on its own merits—not the NDAA’s. If you agree, please share & tell your senators to remove FISA from the NDAA!

Exactly. Abbe Lowell starts his fantasyland narrative *after* his client had already benefited from the kid-glove treatment from Biden-loyal careerists and the Biden administration. 👇👇👇

His defense team's entire Nov. 15 motion is like something out of the Upside Down. They keep arguing that any outcome other than his sweetheart plea deal is improper, when in fact political conflicts of interest changed prosecutors' plan to seek multiple felonies in 2022.

To be clear, Weiss did not just do a 180. He did 2 of them. His 360 round-trip *started* with agreeing to bring this same indictment (+DC Burisma charges) *two years* ago. He reversed that initial course in the face of resistance from Biden appointees, to which he meekly submitted and which would have remained secret but for the IRS whistleblowers. Then he wasted months on CYA efforts, including the aborted sweetheart plea. Only when that fell apart did he 180 again back to his original position in support of the IRS career investigators’ recommended charges. For David Weiss, doing the right thing seems to be both his initial instinct and his last resort. It’s all the stuff in the middle that’s the problem.
The fact that these indictments were brought also validates the whistleblowers’ story that there was internal pressure to let Hunter off the hook. That should be a major scandal.

Doesn't the article actually say that the wealthiest 3 million people own more than the bottom 90%, not just 3 billionaires? Quote: "The 3 million people who make up the wealthiest 1% of Americans are collectively worth more than the 291 million that make up the bottom 90%."

Colluding. To deceive Congress by pretending that Weiss was independent.
The Linder letter reference seemed like a give-away. Can’t wait for further documents to fill in the picture of how Weiss and Main Justice have been collaborating…

1/3 Exactly right, @jsnfostr. The DC Circuit Court has explained that legislative bodies function as Supreme Courts when conducting contempt proceedings in the British & American traditions in its fascinating Ex Parte Nugent (1848) decision. See pdf p. 4-6 bit.ly/2ZtQxUW

2/3 Ex Parte Nugent approvingly cited the passages in Crosby’s Case (1771) affirming that the Houses of Parliament functioned as Supreme Courts in contempt proceedings such as “The house of commons is a supreme court” on p. 6 and others. See bit.ly/2ZtQxUW

3/3 Ex Parte Nugent also embraced the definition presented in Crosby’s Case that for purposes of contempt enforcement the phrase “all courts” included “the two houses of parliament.” This, of course, also applies to the houses of the US Congress. See p.6 bit.ly/2ZtQxUW
