It's Asian Hornet Week - have you downloaded the free app called Asian Hornet Watch? It's vital that we keep an eye out for any Asian Hornets as they are an invasive species that pose a real threat to our pollinating insects #bees #AsianHornetWeek youtu.be/ruXpWzNbzj0

It's #AsianHornet Week. You can help combat this serious threat to #honeybees and other #pollinators. Look for their 'yellow socks' and a single orange/yellow band on the abdomen, then report your sighting using @britishbee Asian Hornet Watch app. bbka.org.uk/Listing/Category…

It's mid #solitarybeeweek so about time I shared the graphic guide to summer solitary bees I've been working on! These are common and distinctive species and genera you can see in the UK from June to August (just a tiny portion of all the species on the wing) @SolitaryBeeWeek

#beekeepershour Good news this week, with some of our Bee Team back & in-between the rain, we inspected our new splits from this season and all have lovely fat laying queen's! 😊🐝 (though one still getting the hang of one cell, one egg!)

We like brood frames like this. Nice temperament, good producers. These will definitely be on the breeding list for next year!

All branch sale days this year will be cancelled. Instead we will be having a two week online sale starting 31st August. Second quality frames will start at £20 per 50. Orders over £100 carriage paid in the UK.

We've had a pretty good run in the South the last few Summers... So I suppose it was only a matter of time before a big Atlantic low sits itself on us mid-summer flow.

Plenty of bees. Who knows maybe a splash of rain could lead to a second wave of nectar.

A change in weather allows an opportunity to snatch some ripe honey. Just starting to crimp a proportion of colonies as swarming impulse recedes.

This was a failed video attempt to show how good the BBWear Ultra Suit and Gauntlet combo is against angry colonies. It was 5 mins long but the bees were so darn angry they muffled the audio. Not 1 sting! @BBwearLimited

In June, there are many new honey bee colonies with young queens needing to mate, so well-fed, healthy male #bees, or drones, like the one on left of shot by Sarah Hodnett, become vital to the continuation of the colony. This one is being fed by another bee. #beekeeping
