New 3D tour of @workatthestudio if you’re curious about the space!
@Matterport, your tech is awesome 🦾
AI doesn’t have to live in a browser tab. We're hosting a hands-on Local AI Workshop to help you run open-weight models on your own device. Bring your laptop, phone, or device of choice. No fancy hardware required.

Physical AI is touching a lot more than one industry.
Different industries. Different deployment realities. One common thread: the physical world has problems that only get solved when hardware, AI, and real-world context are designed together.

Last week's Hardware Pitch Night at Studio 45 x Informal Fund:

- Distribution is the moat
- Scrappy builds are back
Founders from AI Barmen, HUGE, Handybot, LightHearted AI, Sustained Carbon, and VitroBot all pressure tested their work. More soon!
What if mining didn’t require moving rock at all?
Move atoms, not mountains.
Thunderstone is using high-voltage pulses to extract critical minerals in place.

We’re hosting a hardware pitch night at @workatthestudio next week!
Some really cool founders will be pitching with live feedback from VCs investing in hardware (including @LaurenDermody).
If you’re in SF and want to pitch, I think there are still a couple spots available.

I've been thinking a lot lately about what sets hardware founders apart. After over 15 years helping hardware founders ship thousands of products, I've learned what traits to look for and what to avoid.
With hardware suddenly hot again, there are tons of people rushing to get in on the action, most of whom aren't ready or simply aren't right for this path. So I wrote out what differentiates hardware founders from their peers and what would-be hardware founders need to embrace to be successful in this industry.
Excited to hear your feedback! Did I leave anything out? What else sets hardware founders apart?

Not all progress is flashy. Sometimes it looks like clearing clutter, rebuilding systems, and making space to grow.
This winter, Kyle Valiton rolled up his sleeves in Oakland to reset legacy hardware space @Port_Labs, making room for what's next.
