Based on some of these precinct results in places like Waveland and Petal and the county-level results in Harrison and DeSoto, there's a decent-ish chance that whites without a degree in suburban/exurban areas swung harder to Colom than those with a degree.
Like turnout is a big part of this but you can't explain Trump +53 precincts in Waveland swinging 25 points and Colom getting more votes than Harris without conceding that he won SOME whites without a degree.
If you look at the limited precinct numbers we have, it's fairly obvious that Pinkins took more from Hyde-Smith than Colom. Maybe by a lot.
For all you Mississippi precinct heads out there, if you go on Facebook and search "circuit clerk election results" there's quite a few counties with unofficial individual precinct returns on there.
Hinds has individual precincts up. co.hinds.ms.us/pgs/results/U…
NYT voter trends estimation has Colom winning about 25% of whites which has always sort of been the magic number for Democrats in Mississippi to start becoming seriously competitive. We won't know for sure though until individual precinct returns come in.
NYT still has some Republican-leaning counties with votes yet to report. But given Mississippi's residential segregation those precincts could be D leaning precincts for all we know.
The Mississippi precinct returns are going to be fascinating. I'm curious if these massive swings are solely turnout based or if there actually is some elasticity.
