In 35 minutes I get to enter into an extraordinary privilege, wholly undeserved: I'll celebrate Mass on the 25th Anniversary of my ordination to the priesthood, here in the Chapel of St. Augustine in Graham Family Hall with some residents and dear friends. There is much joy and

Funny cause it’s true. If you’re considering going to school at Notre Dame, you should watch this. The so-called “spring” semester (Jan-May) taught me to love studying and the life of the mind: “…I want you to understand what you’re signing up for. It’s cold, there ain’t nothing to do up here, there ain’t a bunch of nightlife, and there ain’t no online classes. The classes are hard but if you can come here and do this there is nothing in life you won’t be able to do.”
Dr. Leonard Moore explains on the Two Sports Dads podcast what Marcus Freeman pitched to his son Leonard Moore during his recruitment. “Leonard we want you here, but I want you to understand what you’re signing up for. It’s cold, there ain’t nothing to do up here, there ain’t a bunch of nightlife, and there ain’t no online classes. The classes are hard but if you can come here and do this there is nothing in life you won’t be able to do.” He goes on to say he appreciated that guaranteed playing time was never mentioned and that he was told he would be able to compete for playing time like everybody else. 🎥 @twosportsdads

She said originalism at its best constrained justices from indulging their policy views, and that it emerged as a response to what she agreed were the excesses of the Warren Court. 4/6

She was effusive in her praise for Alito for asking penetrating questions at oral argument. She said she was happy to join her conservative colleagues in many religious liberty decisions and would do it again. 3/6

Reading some of the coverage of Justice Kagan's interview at Catholic University yesterday, which I attended, and it seems to me to exaggerate how tough she was towared her conservative colleagues. 1/6

It also misrepresents the nature of the exchange, which was moderate and careful. A poor job of reporting.

I was at this great interview of Justice Kagan by my colleague, Joel Alicea. This story ignores the interesting stuff, eg: 1. The Justice’s equivocal view of the Warren Court; and 2. The role of religion in the Justice’s upbringing and life today. nytimes.com/2026/10/20/us/po…

Such childish game-playing. Over three years we have beaten GA, IU, and Penn State in the playoffs. Last year and this we have lost three games in the last minute. We need to beat Miami, yes. Last year’s optimism was based on in-season progress and Jeremiyah Love—reasonable!
After ND was left out of last year’s CFP, there was an assumption the Irish would have run all the way to the title game had they gotten in. Hypothetical. What's a fact? Every single time ND has played an opponent with a pulse over the last two years, it has lost. More: on3.com/news/15-thoughts-aft…

After reading Brothers Karamazov, I constantly cited Dostoyevsky for everything I said. "As Dostoyevsky put it, 'give me another slice of pizza." My friends would reply, "he never said that," and I'd look at them coldly and say, "how would you know?"
Read a good book and don't tell anyone. It will still show.

This, from a month ago, was a credible and bleak read. It's just not obvious what the best options are for Ukraine or Europe, or if there are any good ones. Putin is unquestionably an unjust aggressor, but how to repel him? foreignaffairs.com/united-st…

I’ve never understood why people respond to egregious refereeing mistakes by saying “the team should have played better.” What does that even mean? Okay. But that’s not the issue. The issue is that they scored 38 points—which was more than the other team—but were given 31. (1)

But remember a 24 team playoff would be terrible because teams ranked below #12 would literally have no chance of ever beating a top 12 team
Today was one of the craziest days in college football history: - First time ever five teams ranked in the top 7 lose in a single week - First time the No. 1-ranked team loses to an unranked team in consecutive weeks since 1990 - First time Texas, Alabama, and Georgia all lose on the same Saturday since 1996
