In the Cathedral of the Sea, we honoured Queen Elizabeth II with the Laying Up of The Queen’s Colours. Her Late Majesty was the daughter, wife and mother of naval officers. The @RoyalNavy ran like a thread throughout her life. Today, we said our final farewell.

As a veteran, I wear a poppy to honour the fallen. All of them. Gay or straight, their sacrifice deserves the same respect. To me, that red represents blood spilled. We all bleed red. The poppy doesn’t ask about anyone’s sexuality before remembering them, so why does it need an ideological flag attached? This isn’t an objection to gay people. Gay servicemen and women belong in our remembrance because they served and sacrificed—not because somebody added a flag to a badge. I’m sick of the pandering and the apparent need to put an identity label on everything. The poppy already includes everyone. Stop treating it as though it needs a bloody amendment. You risk dividing the very people you say you want to bring together. I want to honour the fallen. I care that they served, what they endured and what they gave. I don’t care who they fucked. I care that they never came home.

Labour’s controversial Islamophobia definition — and the process by which it came to be — stinks more and more of a cover-up every day. It was bad enough that Angela Rayner appointed five individuals to the Working Group tasked with drafting the definition, all of whom had troubling links to Islamist organisations, including the Muslim Council of Britain and MEND. Now, thanks to a Freedom of Information request by Shadow Justice Secretary Nick Timothy, it has emerged that every submission to the Working Group’s consultation was deleted — apparently in breach of the Government’s own data policy. At every turn, Labour ministers have refused to answer straightforward questions from parliamentarians and key stakeholders such as the Free Speech Union. Who submitted evidence to the consultation? Did extremists have an opportunity to influence the drafting of the definition? Did ministers instruct officials to delete every response? It has also been revealed that the Government pressed the Equality and Human Rights Commission to accept the proposed definition, despite the EHRC’s objections. The EHRC and the Free Speech Union repeatedly warned that the definition was unnecessary and would have a chilling effect on free speech. Laws already exist to protect people from religious hatred and discrimination. If Labour genuinely cared about tackling actual instances of anti-Muslim hatred, it would focus on enforcing those laws. Instead, it is sacrificing free speech on the altar of electoral ambition. Writing in The Critic, Nick Timothy says: “This pernicious definition is being used exactly as we said it would — to conflate religion and race and silence discussion of Islam.” When Nick criticised a mass Muslim public prayer event in Trafalgar Square, he was branded Islamophobic, reported to the Parliamentary Commissioner for Standards and even faced calls to resign from then Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer. As he writes: “Time and again, those of us who have raised concerns that this definition — which the Government is formally recommending all public and private organisations adopt — may restrict free speech have been ignored.” Ministers insist the definition will not chill free speech. Yet Bridget Phillipson used the dispatch box to call Nick racist, then refused to correct the record or apologise. Labour must come clean about who helped draft this new Islamic blasphemy law — and why it went ahead with it. Read more from @NJ_Timothy 👇

Who helped shape Labour’s new Islamophobia definition? Ministers refused to answer. Then they said the records had been deleted, despite rules requiring them to be retained. Angela Rayner must come clean: who helped write it, and what are they hiding?

Labour promised public ownership would fix Britain's railways. 18 months in, cancellations are UP, from 3.2% to 4.1%. That's around 68,000 more cancellations a year. New livery, same delays at a higher cost to you.

I'd like to suggest that promoting child marriage, stoning, halal animal torture, wife beating, sharia courts, and other behaviour contrary to British values, should now be referred to as Anglophobia

🚨 PIDDINGTON UPDATE — 4 AUGUST 🚨 I’m Tim McNally, Chair of Piddington Parish Council. The sun is rising over our village… but a storm is building. It has been 14 days since we sent our open letter to the Prime Minister, Andy Burnham. 14 days of silence. No response. No engagement. No dialogue. Meanwhile, our concerns have been reported across national media — yet still, nothing from Government. Tonight, Piddington meets again. We will decide whether to escalate our campaign and move toward a village referendum on our future and self-determination in response to the proposed changes affecting us. This is not a step we take lightly. Piddington is a village with deep roots — stretching back to the Domesday Book. We have always believed in local voice, local identity, and local democracy. But right now, many here feel unheard. Families are anxious. Questions are growing. And trust is being tested. This is bigger than one village. It’s about whether communities like ours still matter when decisions are made. Tonight, we choose our next step. If we proceed, our campaign will continue — peacefully, lawfully, and publicly — until we are heard. We are also opening our fundraising campaign today. We held back for as long as we could, hoping for dialogue. Now we need support to continue. If you believe local voices should be heard: 👉 thevillagethatroared.org Support us. Share this. Stand with us. @realDonaldTrump — Tim McNally Chair, Piddington Parish Council

Al Carns tried to show Keir Starmer the scale of Britain’s defence funding crisis, but Keir wasn’t listening. Too busy protecting the welfare state, he danced around the problem until Carns finally resigned. {satire}

Food security is national security. Cutting food production and importing it from abroad makes us poorer and weaker. 🇬🇧
