I never thought anyone liked El Viento enough to do retro-release, but here it is!🤯This was my introduction to Lovecraft's Cthulhu mythos, though I didn't know it at the time. I spent many hours in high school art class drawing the characters. youtu.be/_3o7541QlNs

I'm only tangentially paying attention to Baldur's Gate 3 news since I probably won't play it anytime near release, but then I heard Jaheira's back in it, and I thought "That's really nice including a character connected to the older games..."

Certain party members were tied each other in BG1 based on relationships, so if I didn't abandon her in an area that required a screen transition, she would have run back and forced me to kick someone else out to let her back in (because her husband was my main fighter).

It sounds kind of mean, but I was actually trying to be nice. The other way players could separate a duo was by killing the one they didn't want. >.>

Finished Buried Stars recently. It might not be as visible on visual novel lists since it comes out of Korea instead of Japan, but I think this will be one of the most memorable mystery games I've played. buff.ly/3W7ZC4f

I've still been blogging about games during my Twitter hiatus. I really liked OPUS: Echo of Starsong so wanted to share my latest post a little more widely. It's got spoilers though (including the ending). I highly recommend playing it. laurietom.blogspot.com/2023/…

Got this today! It's a Chinese issue of Galaxy's Edge and I wanted to share because this was my first time being translated into Chinese and "The Wings The Lungs, The Engine The Heart" is one of my favorite stories. I even got to be credited under my Chinese name!

I don't know if the rates are competitive, but this is a paid job so figure some gaming/anime folks I know might be interested.

I'm going to be all over Penny Blood. Shadow Hearts is my favorite JRPG series ever. The series got less horror-y as it went on, but it sounds like Penny Blood is going to put all that early 20th century darkness back in.

After two years of pandemic shortages I’m happier than I ought to be that the grocery store has finally restocked my favorite instant ramen.

The “perils” of life without a stomach. I ate 600 calories and now I’m lying on the couch in an unproductive food coma. I keep telling myself I should stop at 400 calories these days but sometimes I think “just a little more” and it never works out.

I always knew an uncut dub of Arcadia of My Youth existed, but since the DVD release didn't have it, I figured it was lost to time. Today I found it streaming on Retrocrush. I may have dropped everything to watch it.

This was my favorite angsty movie as a teenager. Bleak, people dying for very little gain. It has a lot of weird logic jumps and laughable science moments, but I still like the spirit behind it, because after all that loss, the end is still looking for a brighter future.

Admittedly, the fact the protagonist is a badass and we get dueling spaceship as part of the finale goes a long way. If you've ever wanted to try out Leiji Matsumoto's Captain Harlock multiverse, Arcadia of My Youth is a nice self-contained entry.
