Just because @ManCity have been caught cheating
doesn't give you the right to bring out Heysel and Hillsborough shouts.
you're a gobshite if you think City haven't broken the rules, and an even bigger gobshite if you use tragedies as a defence.

Just a note on Hillsborough and alcohol, given the debate now going on about drinking within view of football pitches.
1. In 2 lengthy inquests and a public inquiry, no credible evidence has been put forward that drinking on 15/4/89 was any different to any other big game of the era
2. Hard data sources such as pub takings, CCTV footage, numbers of arrests, pub/ shop licensee reports and litter bins all suggest that fan behaviour and drinking was unremarkable
3. The Hillsborough Independent Panel found that alcohol consumption was ‘reasonable and unexceptional for a sporting event’
4. The Panel (and the 2016 inquest jury) also found that drinking by *fans* played no part in the genesis of the disaster
5. However, it is not clear what senior police commanders were doing in the run up to the game in their ‘missing hours’. Investigators appear to have hit a wall of silence here.
6. Various inquiries have criticised South Yorkshire Police for promoting - without evidence - a portrayal of drunkenness causing the disaster, in order to deflect from their own very serious failures.
7. The National Police Chiefs Council (formerly ACPO) have apologised for blaming fans for the disaster, and for the police failures that did actually cause it

1. It’s been proven time and time again in court that ticketless fans played no role in causing the Hillsborough disaster.
2. There were in fact fewer fans standing on the Leppings Lane terraces in 1989 than ticket sold. Two exhaustive forensic exercises in 1989 and again in 2014 counted fan volumes. See below if you want to see the details of those exercises used in court
3. The inquest jury in 2016 specifically found that fans did not cause the Hillsborough disaster, nor even contribute to causing it. That finding was unanimous
4. South Yorkshire Police and the National Police Chiefs Council have repeatedly apologised for causing the disaster, and wrongly blaming fans
5. A small number of fans (<100) did bunk in at the 1986 all Merseyside FA cup final (where the footage was from) as was common for all clubs at big games in that era.
However, with 100k fans travelling mainly from Merseyside that day, there were only a handful of arrests, and fan behaviour was praised.

The deaths at Hillsborough were not caused by pushing.
The spectator pens were so overcrowded that no one could push anywhere with any material force, with most peoples’ arms trapped immobile to their sides due to ‘vice-like’ pressure.
The failure of the badly corroded crush barrier (barrier 252a) at about 3:05pm caused a ‘progressive crowd collapse’ (see the graphic below) which triggered the deaths and serious injuries
Incidentally, around 42 of the 97 who died were standing towards the back of the terraces, largely in area behind the failed crush barrier

1. At Hillsborough, fans were so tightly packed in the Leppings Lane concourse that nobody could charge anywhere. The exit gates were opened at police direction to relieve overcrowding.
2. There’s no evidence of any volume of ticketless fans at Hillsborough as the Health & Safety Executive, consulting engineers and police counts found that there were fewer fans on the terraces than ticket sold - see the analysis heard in court, which established that ticketless fans were not a factor in the disaster, in the post following this
3. The 2016 Hillsborough Inquest jury found *unanimously* that fans did not cause the disaster, nor even contribute to causing it
4. This footage is wheeled out regularly and always attracts comments like yours, but the big picture is that around 100,000 Merseysiders went to Wembley that day, stood side by side peacefully on the terraces, and there were only a handful of arrests inside and outside the stadium, and far fewer than other finals

So- Liverpool fans didn’t charge the turnstiles to gain illegal entry at Hillsboro but risk a big fall at Wembley?

Blame the Police all you like but had 2000 idiot ticketless fans not turned up those 97 would still be alive.

1. Liverpool fans fell forward on the terraces because a heavily corroded crush barrier failed, causing a progressive collapse of the crowd
2. Liverpool fans didn’t arrive late at Hillsborough. The crowd build up had become a problem by 2:15 and was so critical by 2:42 that exit gates were opened to relieve pressure.
3. Liverpool fans did not force their way into the stadium. The gates were opened by club stewards at police direction, and fans invited to enter by the police
4. The inquest jury unanimously found that fans did not cause the disaster, nor even contribute to causing it. The match commander, South Yorkshire Police, and the National Police Chief’s Council have apologised and taken responsibility.
5. You are a dumb attention-seeking wanker
Wrong_Kennedy_2 retweeted
If that was the case, do you ever wonder why the match commander specifically accepted responsibility for the deaths in court, under oath?

One of the most vicious lies the police told about Hillsborough was that Liverpool fans deliberately burnt a police horse with cigarettes. It was covered widely in the media after the disaster.
But it was a complete lie & it was confirmed today that the officer involved, PC David Scott, would have had a case to answer for gross misconduct, had he still been serving.

Liverpool Football Club welcomes the introduction of the Hillsborough Law, a landmark legislation that stands as a legacy for the 97.

1. LFC fans did not force themselves into Hillsborough, the police opened the gate and invited fans to enter, in order to relieve overcrowding outside
2. The overcrowding outside wasn’t due to ticketless fans but because only 7 turnstiles were allocated for 10,100 fans to enter and they were never going to have enough capacity. The flow rate required was twice the legal safe limit
3. There were fewer fans on the terraces at Hillsborough than ticket sales, so ticketless fans can’t have been a factor. This was proved scientifically in court in 1989 and again in 2013
4. Hillsborough stadium had a long, long history of serious overcrowding issues. People had died from overcrowding on those terraces before.
5. Theft from person, burglary and vehicle crime are all much higher in London than Merseyside
6. Both UEFA and the French Minister of Justice have apologised for the organisation of the 2022 Champions League Final and for wrongly blaming fans

not all, but a minority absolutely played a role. If you force your way into a fully capacity venue by the hundreds, you increase the risk of tragedies like hillsborough happening. Thieving is a scouse trait it’s natural to them. Hence many were seen doing the same vs madrid

Just a quick fact check on your comment about Hillsborough below…
1. The outcome of the Hillsborough inquests was determined by a jury of ordinary people
2. The jury were selected from a neutral venue (Warrington) which was agreed on by all parties including South Yorkshire Police & their retired senior officers
/contd

I don't know why anyone is getting excited about an "inquiry into grooming gangs" they'll just get someone like they did with the Hillsborough inquiry to find exactly what they are told to find and get rid of any evidence that points to the truth.

DUMB FUCK: Liverpool fans are to blame for Hillsborough as no other clubs had problems there
REPLY: Lots of clubs had serious overcrowding incidents there before (and after). Here’s a list
DUMB FUCK: But nobody died there before
REPLY: Yes, they did, here are the details
DUMB FUCK: But no one died there in 1981 when Spurs played
REPLY: That’s right, here are the reasons for that including details, photos and diagrams of the botched, unfinished ground modifications that made escape impossible in 1989.
There was also a new incompetent police commander in 1989, and a badly corroded crush barrier had also collapsed
DUMB FUCK: But no one died in 1981 when Spurs played
.
3 key factors were different in 1989 compared to the 1981 Spurs v Wolves semi final and led to the fatalities
1. New side fences stopped fans spreading out to the sides
2. A new police match commander who failed in planning, and then failed to make interventions to deal with the developing dangerous situation
3. Failure of a badly corroded crush barrier that had held firm in 1981

“I think everyone knows what really happened”
The Inquest Jury know what really happened as they heard 2 years of evidence and specifically found that fans neither caused nor contributed to the disaster. That finding was unanimous
And South Yorkshire Police also know what happened as they apologised unreservedly for causing the disaster and apologised for blaming others.
The match commander also knows what happened and he specifically admitted under oath that his mistakes caused the disaster and apologised for blaming fans
And Lord Justice Taylor knows what happened as he ran the 1989 public inquiry and also found that the disaster was caused by policing failures rather than fan behaviour
It’s not that you’re not allowed to say what you think happened, it’s a matter that you don’t have a shred of evidence to support your view and will be rightly called out on it, as you are simply wrong.
Replying to @David__Osland
I think everyone knows what really happened but we're not allowed to say. Liverpool fans still jump turnstiles without tickets, I've seen it happen
