Time to bump up this number by a couple thousand at minimum. No reason why 28k plus shouldn’t be at at the Joan Saturday. 70 degree weather. Some of the best ticket deals in the country. Marshall is on a 2 game win streak. The Joan’s atmosphere is better now than it ever has been before. Stripe the stadium. The list can go on. Get to the Joan Saturday. Let’s have a great Homecoming!!!

As we enter the first game week, I’d like to take a brief moment to reflect. In 1970, 75 players, coaches, and members of the Marshall community lost their lives in one of the greatest tragedies in American sports history. Humanly speaking, there shouldn’t have been another football team…. But our leadership made a decision. Against all odds, Marshall put a team back on the field. In those days, it wasn’t about winning. It was simply about having a team. For years, Marshall struggled. But slowly… Inch by inch… Year by year. The tides began to change. Sonny Randle laid the foundation. Stan Parish built on it. George Chaump took us to a national championship game. Jim Donnan brought home our first national championship. Bob Pruett turned Marshall into a national power. And generation after generation, coaches and players continued building on that history. And now, here we are. In 1970, we never thought we’d have an opportunity like this again. But next week, we get to walk into one of college football’s great environments and take on another blue blood. We get a chance to shock the college football world. Of course, we play to win. But remember how fortunate we are to simply have this opportunity. We get another season. Another Saturday. Another chance to compete. We get to be Marshall. So take it all in next week. Enjoy the chaos. Enjoy your family. Enjoy your friends. Enjoy college football. Because at Marshall… It’s different. It always has been. It always will be. We are… Marshall
