happy birthday david foster wallace you would have loved instagram reels, “claude” , and vaping
insane that there’s like a half dozen cards banned in Standard and none of them are Agatha’s Soul Cauldron, one of the most spiritually diseased cards ever printed
patiently explaining to my cat that if she forgoes her immediate desires (refusing to eat the probiotic the vet prescribed her) she will achieve her long term ones (not vomiting so much) and having a brief glimmer of self awareness before going back to staring at my phone
given that bans made this standard so much worse it seems logical for so many people to believe more bans will make it better. like, say what you will but at least steel cutter was a really fun card to play with

also worth pointing out that a big reason constructed magic feels so much more expensive is that the % of the total cost of a new deck is much more heavily weighted towards new/recent cards. ime v few players buy an entire 75, most defray costs through trade
tbf 10 years ago local stores ran weekly $1Ks with 40+ players, there was a robust RPTQ system and I could play a GP w/in a reasonable distance 6+ times a year for $50. ROI on a competitive constructed deck was just infi higher
I can think of a couple of a standard decks that were definitely inflation—adjusted USD$1K the real issue is that there’s absolutely no tournament ecosystem to justify that kind of deck price now
idk what exactly I was hoping for out of Spotifys Clair de Lune radio but it’s like a third meandering chamber music slush called “Frost Covers the Window” made by guys without Wikipedia entries.
Shows a real lack of character to shelve your books spine in but have the KITH art book visibly on display
yet another new product release the main selling point of which is “we printed Gem Bazaar but with the alternate 8th edition test print frame” seems indicative of where the game is, healthwise
killing it by doing a heart on sleeve rendition of “Tears Over Beers” at the Geary Ave stick and poke-aoke
watching the Olympics and I really don’t understand how the BMX event isn’t just getting shredded by a Mormon teen from Arizona named Travley
