We’ve agreed to a partnership with @SpaceX that will substantially increase our compute capacity.

Today we're announcing two product changes for organizing communities on X:
1. XChat now supports joinable links for groupchats. Create a public link & share direct to Timeline. With support for 350 members per chat (and growing), Groupchat Links are the fastest way to bring people together on X.
2. Due to declining usage, we're deprecating X Communities on May 6.
To migrate your Community's members, pin your groupchat link so people can join it over the next 2 weeks.
This is part of our broader effort to simplify the experience on X. Make no mistake: we are investing heavily in niche communities with the launch of Custom Timelines—and much more to come.

xAI is committed to building a state-of-the-art water recycling plant in Memphis. This plant will protect billions of gallons of water each year.
The team is currently prioritizing other more immediate projects at the site but our plans to build the water plant have not changed.
xAI continues to lead the way with cutting-edge technology. We have commenced construction on the world’s large ceramic membrane bioreactor (MBR) to sustainably supply 13 million gallons per day of cooling water to our Colossus Supercomputer and neighboring industrial plants in Memphis, Tennessee. The Colossus Water Recycling Plant will use direct-piped effluent from the nearby Memphis’ T.E. Maxson municipal wastewater treatment plant to produce high-quality cooling tower makeup water and allow the Colossus Supercomputer to operate with zero impact on area potable water supplies – and even supply high-demand industrial neighbors at the same time.

After the exchange between @NateSilver538 and @nikitabier, I did a little test to check whether that was true and, to my surprise, what I found suggests that link deboosting was indeed reversed.
What I did is randomly sample 15 tweets by @nytimes between 2019 and today, compute the weekly average number of likes and retweets they got and plot the results along with a trend line.
The idea is that likes and retweets are probably a decent proxy for reach and @nytimes only posts tweets with external links, so by looking at this, we should be able to see any changes in the algorithm with respect to how links are treated.
As you can see, it's pretty clear that, starting around the spring/summer of 2023, posts with links started to be penalized and eventually they were completely nuked until the spring/summer of 2025, when a reversal of that policy seems to have started.
To be honest, this isn't what I was expecting to find, so even if that's just a quick and dirty test and it's hardly a definitive proof, it's good news and I thought I should share the results.
