I’ve learned so much from Henrique and Yuhta working on this paper. Extremely excited to see our paper published! Many thanks to the editor and referees for a smooth process. A thread on the paper:
In their new paper, @smorgasborb, @xiaolin_econ, & Ishii tackle an important question: How should we make decisions using multiple information sources when we don't know their correlation? restud.com/robust-aggregatio… #REStud #EconX #EconTwitter

This characterization also bounds the number of information sources needed, and tells us which information sources can be safely ignored. The bound depends only on the decision problem, not on how many sources are available. 10/n

The results provide a rationale for why people may ignore freely available information even in high-stakes decision problems. 11/11

See the impressive research agenda that @CeLiuEcon has built applying these ideas to matching, incl his job market paper in TE and his recent AEJ-Micro with Ziwei Wang and Hanzhe Zhang. Working with him is a blast. More people should do it. Link: celiu.net

Happy to share that the attached paper by Rui Wang and me was just accepted by @JEconometrics. Admittedly, the title, the abstract, and the whole paper probably look very boring… That said, it has become one of my own favorites given the number of “No-Way” moments it gave me : )

What are the welfare effects of surge pricing? Using Uber data, I develop an empirical model of spatial equilibrium composed of demand, supply, and matching. I find that surge pricing raises total welfare, benefitting riders but hurting drivers. econometricsociety.org/publi…
