Tomorrow we're releasing a full UATX course for free: all 19 lectures of Professor Isabella Reinhardt's Rise and Fall of Ancient Rome, filmed in class with our students.
It runs from Rome's mythical founding to the Third Century Crisis. It ends on a question the class spent a whole session arguing about: did Rome ever really fall?

I am deeply saddened to learn of Walter Koenig’s passing.
Although we did not know each other well away from the set, we shared the later seasons of the original Star Trek series and the six films that followed.
What I observed, and what so many fans have expressed over the years, was a man who genuinely loved the Star Trek community.
At conventions, Walter was rarely content to remain behind a signing table. He preferred to be among the people who had kept Star Trek alive for so many decades.
That kind of genuine connection is rare, and it will be remembered by everyone who came into contact with him.
My condolences to his family, his friends, and the countless fans whose lives he touched.

Theodore Roosevelt’s conservation vision still shapes @Interior's mission today. From wildlife refuges to national monuments, the Antiquities Act he signed in 1906 expanded protection for America’s natural and cultural treasures — protections that continue to benefit every American.
Celebrate his birthday tomorrow with a FEE-FREE visit to your public lands!
Coco the foster is all boxed up and ready to go to her new home. 😺😿
She loves boxes. Hopefully she will love her new home and the other pets and people there as much as she loves us.

This delights me so very much. People using AI to take back control of devices that they bought, but were covertly designed to spy on them and harvest their data.
I'm usually reluctant to brandish my fame, but I'm gonna do it for this worthy cause. OG hacker says you're doing good! This kind of liberation is what it's all about.

Flashback to when Obama went on Letterman a week after the Benghazi attack to lie to the American people.
Obama blamed the Benghazi attack on a video even though he had known for days that the video had nothing to do with the attack. It was terrorism.
The election was coming up and Obama wanted to make sure the Benghazi didn't hurt him, so he went on Letterman and lied.

The Greek Orthodox Monastery of Saint Catherine on Mount Sinai, the oldest monastery in the world which has existed and operated continuously since the 5th century A.D, with one of the most important libraries in the world, has definitively signed today an agreement with the Egyptian authorities to retain the historical rights it has held for 1,500 years.
Let me remind you that no matter which conqueror passed through in the long history, even Muhammad, no one ever harmed this Greek Monastery, because of its history and spiritual significance.
It's an UNESCO World Heritage Site. It was built between 548 and 565 AD. Inside this Monastery, there is one of the oldest known surviving depiction of Jesus Christ as Pantocrator dating from when the Monastery was founded by the Byzantine emperor Justinian I.

Shitlibs probably shouldn’t have spent the past week promising to prosecute Elon for daring to be conservative.

Sadly it seems there aren't enough reader mystery cars for Dave's Car ID Service today to do a decent episode, so I'm postponing until my cupboard is less bare.
If you've a charming old family pic with a weird old car, post it with the secret word davescaridservice and I will do my utmost to figure that sucker out. Let me make your ancestors minor internet stars!

For those looking for a Hallmark Halloween movie, even my teenage son thought it was hilarious.
Tomorrow my little foster Coco is being adopted by a new family 2 states away via Petfinder and the rescue I work with.
Love her dearly, but her new family is getting a wonderful addition. Huge THANKS for all who use services like Petfinder to grow their fam, and to fosters too.
God bless this man. True courage.
Bend, Oregon man who shot and killed a shooter at his daughters' school speaks out, praises female teacher for fighting the shooter, allowing him to have a clear shot.
Kaylub Giamanco says he is haunted by the sound of children pleading for their lives.
He also praised the teacher for grabbing the gunman's weapon, allowing him to take a shot at the shooter.
"I want to recognize [the teacher]. She gave me the opportunity to make my shot without losing my life..."
"I swung the door open, and I stepped in, and I fired, and they dropped to the ground... I looked down at the gunman, and he was scrambling for his weapon. And I looked at him, and I shot him 2 more times..."
