A Xiaohongshu post asking "How popular was YoonA at her peak?” and the comments : - The whole group has 200+ endorsements, and she personally has over 90. Her search trends in China and Korea are basically always Top 3-usually first or second, unless someone had a massive viral hit to temporarily pass her. She's got the highest box office among post-90s actresses and is Top 5 wealthiest among female idols. Also, she's #1 most liked idol for 6 or 4 times? I kinda forgot, but she’s #2 for only twice. Her peak was before 2017 - Naver's homepage ads were literally all Lim YoonA (pic 3) - Her Google search was at ONE TOP level (pic 4) - I actually knew Lim YoonA first. When I was a child, I’d watch 'You Are My Destiny' on TV every afternoon and only later found out about SNSD - I've followed her since elementary school all the way to adulthood. There were people who didn't know SNSD, but they knew Lim YoonA, and these were non-fans. She’s got such insane public appeal. Even a guy on our national badminton team had Lim YoonA as his gaming profile picture - Even my mom who doesn’t know and doesn’t follow K-pop, knows Lim YoonA - To many Chinese people, Korean girl groups meant Lim YoonA - Just so you know, the term “Center” in K-pop was birthed because of YoonA - Back when I wasn't even into K-pop, I already knew the name “Lim YoonA” and recognized how she looks like - Even now, Lim YoonA’s billboard ads are literally everywhere in Seoul. No one can deny her long-lasting, enduring popularity - After 'God of War, Zhao Yun' finished airing, when she went on a Korean variety show, the MC mentioned that YoonA received 20+ China drama offers. That tells you how huge her popularity was across both China and Korea - I remember that video of her wearing the red hoodie. Back when I was only in elementary school, my entire QQ Qzone feed was completely filled with her - ‘You Are My Destiny' had extremely high viewership ratings. Even older generations who didn't know SNSD knew her as Saebyuk. You could say people of all age groups recognized her back then - Even elders born in the 70s have heard of YoonA's name - She’s seriously the most popular member in SNSD, even my dad knows her - I saw a ranking once, back when she was at her peak, she was the #1 most popular in SM, maintaining a massive gap over everyone else for years - If she had come to Chinese entertainment, she would've been at the top tier of 90s actresses and even on an Asia-wide scale - Back in 2013 & 2014, she was literally the highest-earning artist! Also, Lim YoonA remains the highest-earning artist for SM to this day. Commonly known as SM's cash cow - Basically, all 2nd gen boy group members picked her as their ideal type - A name that every young person in Asia knows (a bit exaggerated, but even when I was a teenager and haven’t got into K-pop, I had already heard of Lim YoonA) - She’s literally the peak of Asian soft/refined beauty. No contest. - Feels like she's been voted as the prettiest for few years straight - Back before I even had a smartphone, I discovered SNSD through Lim YoonA, and then fell in love with both YoonA and SNSD - During my brief stint following K-pop, she was my first and only bias - Even among fellow celebrities, she held the #1 ideal type title by a landslide for years - Even if you don’t follow SNSD, you’d know the name “Lim YoonA” - Mainly because her popularity has lasted and stayed at the top for so long -I have known her since I was a kid -Her popularity boomed across Asia xhslink.com/o/8o4cvbrMUJj #LimYoonA #임윤아 #YoonA #윤아
