Which records changed? What did they change to? What were they before? Every team should be able to answer those three after an AI agent touches their data. If you use AI, do not stop using your brain. An AI suggestion is one possible option, not a decision already made for you
An answer may sound convincing and still leave something out. Give it the same attention you would give any advice affecting your work
Microblog @antgrasso
Before accepting a recommendation, check what it is based on.
Does the system have enough information about your situation?
Would you accept the same advice from a colleague without asking a question?
Explore another option, even when the first suggestion seems reasonable. You can ask AI to propose alternatives, then compare them with what you know.
If the original recommendation still makes sense, follow it.
There is no need to disagree with AI just to prove you are in control.
But keep the possibility of changing your mind.
When new information arrives, reconsider the decision. What would make you choose differently today?
AI can suggest a direction.
You should remain free to take another one.

If a platform does not serve people, what exactly is it scaling for?
Human-centered design should shape the business model from day one.
Growth changes the relationship between a platform and the people who depend on it.

A Phoenix suburb is fighting over $500 monthly water bills as growth outruns supply. That same valley is one of the busiest data center markets in the country. Every hyperscaler planning a campus in the Southwest now has to show a water plan alongside the power plan, and closed loop cooling is going to be standard in those deals.

Musk and Dell are putting real money into the Trump accounts program, investment accounts seeded for every newborn. Politics aside, somebody has to run millions of small accounts on fintech rails, and whichever platform wins custody of them has a customer for life. I would be watching Fidelity, Schwab and Robinhood closely.

Windows XP turns 25 today.
Microsoft stopped supporting it 12 years ago. A small number of XP machines are still out there running factory floors, lab instruments, kiosks and medical gear that nobody has the budget or the nerve to replace.
I was deep in the telecom world when XP shipped on October 25, 2001. For those of us living with Windows 95, 98 and ME every day, the big deal was not the new interface or the green hill. It was what sat underneath.
XP was built on Windows NT 5.1. Microsoft finally moved regular consumers onto the NT kernel. Protected memory. Real process isolation. NTFS. Plug and Play that mostly worked. The random blue screens we had all learned to live with just stopped showing up.
Bill Gates called it the end of the MS-DOS era. He was right.
The launch was pure 2001. Times Square. Rudy Giuliani. Regis Philbin. A free Sting concert in Bryant Park. Microsoft treated an operating system like a stadium tour.
Then there is Bliss. That green hill was a real photo, shot in 1996 by Charles O'Rear, a former National Geographic photographer, on his way through California wine country. He saw the light, pulled over, took a few frames and drove on. That picture ended up on hundreds of millions of monitors and is probably the most viewed photograph ever taken. The hill has since been planted with vines and looks nothing like it. The XP version only exists on old desktops.
Security is where XP shows its age. Everyone ran as admin. Machines sat on the public Internet with services open by default. Service Pack 2 in 2004 turned the firewall on and cleaned up a lot, but regular support ended in April 2014.
The machines that survived are the ones bolted to a million dollar piece of equipment or an application whose vendor went out of business years ago. So IT teams wall them off. Segment the network. Pull the Internet connection. Lock down the USB ports. It mostly works, but it is still a 25 year old OS with no patches sitting right next to the crown jewels.
Windows is in the middle of another shift right now. The PC is turning into a mix of CPU, GPU and NPU. AI agents are starting to read your screen, work across apps and act for you. That makes identity, permissions and isolation matter more than at any point since XP moved us off DOS.
XP was the last time Microsoft rebuilt the foundation under everyone's feet. It looks like they are doing it again.
And somewhere today, an XP box is running a very expensive machine and nobody is going to be the one to reboot it.
Happy 25th, Windows XP.
