Atletico selling Julian Alvarez to Barcelona is entirely their choice.
Sell him. Don't sell him. Ask for €200m if you want. He's your player and you're perfectly entitled to do what you think is best for your club.
But please, spare me the holier-than-thou act about "ethics", "professionalism" and Barcelona negotiating in bad faith.
Where was all this concern for good faith when Atletico had an agreement with Barca that would require them to pay €40m for Griezmann if he played 45+ minutes in 50% of the games he was available for?
Their solution?
Keep one of their best players on the bench and repeatedly bring him on around the 60th minute so those games wouldn't count towards the clause.
Everyone knew what was happening. Griezmann knew. Simeone knew. Barca knew. The entire football world knew.
And eventually Barca, who desperately needed the money at the time, settled for roughly half the original €40m fee.
Was it within Atletico's contractual rights? Sure.
Was it this wonderful display of "good faith" and sporting ethics that they suddenly seem so passionate about in 2026?
Come on.
Football clubs look after their own interests. Atletico did it then. Barcelona are doing it now. That's the game.
So keep Julian. Sell Julian. Send him to Arsenal. Do whatever you want.
Just drop the saint act while doing it.
You cannot spend years playing the transfer market with every trick available to you and then suddenly discover the moral high ground when the sword falls on the other foot.

The light show, starting from the base up to the illumination of the cross, culminated with a composition of lights guided by drones that traced the figure of Gaudí and the phrase “first love, then technique”.

Man, this whole thread is exactly why your club is still in absolute shambles right now.
Seriously, picture this: you're out here screaming that Rashford is suddenly worth 50M+ in today's market. But let's be honest when he was still wearing that red shirt, how much was he actually worth? Be real with yourself. Nobody and I mean NOBODY was coming in with even €20m for him at that point.
This is the same player who, not long ago, was valued higher than Kylian Mbappé in his breakout years. And yet your club let him rot on the bench, threw him under the bus, criticized him every single week, and half of your fanbase was cheering when the loan was announced because "good riddance."
Then Barcelona step in, take the risk, give him minutes, trust him, build his confidence back bit by bit. And look what happened he's scoring, assisting, looking like the old Marcus again (10 goals + 13 assists already this season, come on. We polished what you discarded. We revived a career you gave up on.
And now you have the audacity to act shocked and demand 50M+? You were HAPPY he left. You lot were posting memes, saying he was finished, washed, overrated. Where was all this "valuable asset" energy when he was underperforming week in, week out at Old Trafford? The hypocrisy is actually wild.
Look, if I was running Barcelona like a proper business, I'd be laughing right now. The deal is crystal clear – it's right there in black and white: €30m buy-option (~£26m), paid in three clean installments, fully compliant with La Liga's financial fair play rules. No hidden clauses, no "revival fees," no sudden price hikes because he started playing well again. A deal is a deal. You signed it. We activated it. End of story.
So nah, we're not bending over backwards to make Manchester United whole again just because you suddenly remembered he's talented. You had your chance. You fumbled it. We took it. Simple as that. 💙❤️
