File this under things I didn't know I needed in life but now sure glad I have: Gary Thorne's play-by-play of me catching a foul ball in the press box.
A lot of late-night chats and walks out of the Busch press box to the parking lot. A lot of glances over during a bone-headed play only to share an expected chuckle. A lot of lessons imparted, and a lot of kindness.
RIP, Commish.
My colleague. My mentor. My dearest friend.
And he deserves my absolute best to capture the incredible life of the beloved Hall of Fame baseball writer who defined professionalism and the profession.

Let's keep the support @SlangsOnSports going!
I'll be running her favorite half marathon in Disney to help raise money and awareness for ALS research. Some of it (she's fighting this) will go to Sarah. Any donation or RT will help SO much! #SarahStrong

Hey friends, a quick programming note: Yesterday was my last game with MLB.com as I move into a new venture outside the industry. From Baltimore to DC to STL, can't explain how grateful I am for all the support, following and fun over the last few years. A dream.
I'll still be around, just a little less on here. Don't be shy to say hello.
Otherwise, apply to my old job:

Ballgame.
Another roller coaster, another game out of the Orioles' favor. Baltimore withstands a series split after winning the first two against the Astros, losing a chance to make up ground on Seattle, their postseason hopes dimming.
The Orioles lose, 6-3. They are 79-73.
Rougned Odor's last five hits, all in the last three days:
• Two-run single off Justin Verlander
• Two-run single off Framber Valdez
• Single
• Ninth-inning home run
• Eighth-inning game-tying single
With Trey Mancini up to bat, a wild pitch from Dillon Tate gets away from Adley Rutschman, allowing Yuli Gurriel to scamper home as the go-ahead run.
And then Mancini just missed a homer because of Walltimore. My god.
