There is no medicine without empathy and ethics. If scientific knowledge is the be all end all, then the only difference between you and an AI chatbot is that an AI chatbot can be programmed not be an insufferable asshole.

LFW usually has two types of designers: 1. Great tailoring, great finishing, ironed clothes. 2. Raffia and vibes.

Eureka Studios is now part of NVIDIA Inception. 💚 A month ago, Danfo Run was a game about Lagos traffic. Now we’re a studio building original games. This one means a lot. #NVIDIAInception

At the end of the day, people can’t give you what they don’t have, and how they treat you in certain situations is as a result of how they perceive themselves. Someone who woke up at dawn to cook work lunch for a spouse while pregnant will unfortunately minimize your discomfort

If I say my class is a zoo and you respond by saying the students are not animals. You’re clearly an idiot. And there’s nothing else to say.
Esq, distinguishing figurative intent from literal, is simple. And please, drop your abstract examples of metaphor; the case at hand involves two real, verifiable conditions. If a teacher says 'my class is a zoo,' and a staff says 'no, students are not animals,' the teacher won’t produce animal charts to prove her point, she just laughs and says 'it’s just a figure of speech.' But when Mum Zee said 'pregnancy is not a death sentence' and people kept giving cases of maternal mortality to prove her wrong. You didn’t take that as a sign that the exchange wasn’t about a metaphor but a literal assertion of fact??. When a dispute is fought using factual evidence, it is a literal debate over actual outcomes, not a literary exercise. You don’t use factual evidence to argue “the class is a zoo”, nor “life is a journey” nau😂. It was AFTER sufficient medical opinion saturated the air on the subject that they tried taking the “literary” license to evade the critic of the travesty.

Imagine saying work nearly took my life and some pedantic fool thinks it’s the best time to talk about how my work is not, infact, fatal. Well, You don’t say?

Thank you for presenting yourself. I really needed an example.
A Zoo in this metaphor has many interpretations that could conveniently fit a room of students so that the rebuttal that they’re not animals would be silly/irrelevant. The death sentence as a metaphor leads to a clearly statistically untrue conclusion.

And they’re doing all this from Nigeria where the maternal mortality statistics are abysmal. They’re not even campaigning that pregnancy SHOULDN’T have to be a death sentence for ANY woman. This is where they have decided to pour their energy. God forbid.
quite a weird hill to die on. A woman says pregnancy ‘felt like a death sentence’ to her and people are arguing that it’s not the same as a death sentence. did you take any english/literature courses in school? were you not taught figures of speech or literary devices?

“Pregnancy is a death sentence” is a metaphor like “life is a journey” or “time is a revealer”. Not literally true but explains its gravity. Obvious to any reasonable person. If you interpret it as saying that means pregnancy = expected or automatic death, you might be a moron.

There's an asymmetry in tech right now. People are getting paid and making never-before-seen money, and at the same time we're seeing record layoffs over the past 4 years.

This pregnancy conversation and the Romeo and Juliet conversation are exactly the same. Being that pedantic at this your adult age is embarrassing. Ew.

Stand alone Igbo proverb: If you are spoken to in an idiom and you reply literally or ask for interpretation, your mother has done such a bad job that your father should demand her brideprice back. You’re deeply foolish.

Suddenly nobody understands or have ever used a figure of speech. Interesting scenes
Just to be clear, a death sentence means that the person sentenced will (definitely) die.

There are people on my Timeline with UK Global Talent Visas and Canada PRs whose entire spiel this election season is to tell you they don't rate Peter Obi. They offer no alternatives and say they are not affiliated with the APC. I hope you know they are wicked and callous.
