A monsoon has hit Hainan today. So glad I’m staying at this boutique hotel called Creations Museum Hotel. It’s a museum one can stay in (a new concept of living museum). The first few floors are dedicated to Hainan’s and Southeast Asia’s traditional culture.‌

This meal costs about $14 (¥92). My main complaint about food so far has been the huge portion of dishes. The abundance of food at low prices causes enormous waste and widespread obesity. Never before have the Chinese been consuming so much at such low costs.

That Tsingtao beer costs ¥7 ~ $1. It would be $12 plus $3 tip at any bar in Manhattan.

I’m pleasantly surprised at Xiamen airport check-in for my flight to Hainan (China’s tropical island). I thought I booked an economy ticket, and the agent told me I actually had a business class ticket. 1/2

The ticket price was so cheap that I assumed it had to be an economy class seat.

Waiting in line for boarding a ferry to the historic island of Gulangyu off Xiamen, a large group of retired state railway workers can be seen (中铁退休游团). These retirees built China’s HSR system, bridges, and tunnels. Now, they get to enjoy their own achievements.

On the streets of Xiamen, there’s a beer exchange. A 500ml Tsingtao costs ¥29.61, which is about $5. You can drink it right there on the street, which is a freedom not enjoyed by Americans.

I got 500ml cherry beer for ¥20.04. It tastes like cherry juice with vodka, but who can tell.

This take makes little sense. The right wing candidate’s political base is farmers who are not going to cut off soybean export to China. No matter who wins, china remains the largest export market for Brazilian agriculture products.

The market is always right up to the second before it isn’t.

Macau’s nominal per capita GDP is about $76k, in PPP terms it is about $117k. This is my tasty lunch today: stir-fried pork with heart of broccoli plus a bowl of rice. Total Cost under $5. The PPP GDP number makes much more sense.

Macau money is pegged to the HK dollar, which in turn is pegged to the US dollar. The ratio is about 8:1. A fair ratio based on my lunch cost, the ratio should be around 3. US dollars need a dramatic fall.

The Portuguese built these cannons aimed at the Dutch and British invaders from the sea. Nowadays, they point at the boorish, degenerate American gambling establishments. They should fire a few shots to knock out the likes of Wynn, MGM and Londoners.

There are no iPhone Duos available at Macau Galaxy mall Apple store. These people are lining up for iPhone 18 Pro and pro max.

Coming to Hongkong from the mainland, everything feels dated. Taxis cabs are old and dirty.
