On 19 October, a reported drone strike at Medebay Terer health center in Tahtay Qoraro woreda killed newborn baby, both grandparents and other relatives gathered at the health center. The mother lost a leg and while others injured were hospitalized in Shire. It’s been a while since I received this report from humanitarian workers but investigation and verification take time

This election is our last chance to at least rein in some of the foolishness of this Administration.
We need real leadership with concrete plans to lower costs, make health care more affordable, make housing more affordable, and get utility bills under control.
Let’s do what we can to make @KeishaBottoms the next Governor of Georgia. Let’s go send Jon @Ossoff back to the Senate. And let’s put this country back on the path to a better future.

The real threat to #Tigray’s future isn’t just internal political failure it’s the surrender of regional autonomy to external control. Replacing local leadership internally is one thing; handing total leverage back to @AbiyAhmedAli is a far bigger long-term risk.

Why would Oromia authorities detain people for assisting the wounded or burying the dead?
News: More than 50 detained after burying victims of deadly attacks on #Orthodox faithful in #Ethiopia’s #Oromia
Addis Abeba — More than 50 residents in #Shirka Woreda, Southeast Zone (formerly #Arsi zone) of #Oromia region, have reportedly been detained after burying victims of recent attacks and assisting the wounded, residents told Addis Standard, raising concerns about a security crackdown in the aftermath of the killings.
The detention followed attacks by armed men in Chole and Birbo kebeles that left at least 48 people dead and more than 31 others injured, according to residents who spoke to Addis Standard. The Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church’s #Holy_Synod subsequently reported that 60 Orthodox Christians were killed in attacks on 20 and 24 October across two woredas in Arsi Zone.
Attempts by Addis Standard to contact the regional communication bureau for further comment were unsuccessful.

The U.S. must not turn a blind eye while #Ethiopia buys #Russian warplanes as civilians suffer from violence & abuses. Will the @StateDept enforce #CAATSA & hold its assistance accountable? No blank checks while civilians in #Tigray, #Amhara, & #Oromia remain unprotected.

In Aksum I had dinner with someone who was on their way back from Rama and she was despondent about the impact of the drought.
This drone campaign is hitting farmers and hungry families who were already struggling to survive. This has to end.

You should tell UAE to 🛑 Arming the Genocidal RSF! You have been ignoring the slaughter of innocent civilians by RSF for long time. Action speaks louder than word, so fo something!

In Sudan, a war for raw power, fueled by outside actors, has become a war on civilians.
The fighting must stop.
Civilians must be protected.
Humanitarian aid must flow, without obstruction.
The country’s unity, sovereignty & territorial integrity must be preserved.
And Sudan's future must be shaped by the Sudanese people through an inclusive political process.

Imagine being a parent in Yechila right now. Sometime today or tomorrow, you will have to walk five hours for clean water, past hostile soldiers, past UXO, and hope that you make it back to your family alive.

This is what the genocidal regime of @AbiyAhmedAli has reduced the country to. For some who lived and worked in Arsi province in the 1970s, this is a shocking news. Fundamentalism leading to such killings was not a variable. What a transformation and a path to the abyss, justice and accountability are being led to the gutter showing the incompetence and culpability of the regime
Read #Addis_Standard’s editorial, “Break this chain of attacks”, from June 2026.
***
The most compelling evidence comes from the Patriarch of the Ethiopian #Orthodox Tewahedo Church himself. In responding to the attacks, Abba Mathias did not speak of a one-off incident. He appealed to authorities to “break this chain of attacks and bring the perpetrators to justice.”
A chain. Not an episode.
For years, this publication has reported on recurring killings, displacement, church burnings, property destruction, and targeted attacks in East Arsi. Religious leaders have warned about it. Community members have warned about it. Survivors have warned about it. Yet the violence continues.
The obvious question is: why?
The answer lies in the complete absence of accountability.

Such characters never cease to amaze. The quest for national self determination is impeded and compromised by scums and retrogressive elements appearing here and there. But this one is something with his demagogic and rabid outbursts exemplifying the tragedy of Tigray.
