Hoh Wow! This has been needed for a long time. A small but important fix. This is often filled with cars parked.
Jersey barrier finally installed at the start of the 34th Ave bike lane at Northern Blvd and 48th (the Dwyer Square intersection with H-Mart, Guitar Center, Popeyes chicken, and Ross). This bike lane was often used as a stopping/waiting zone for food takeout cars. Yes !

You see so much awesomeness every day on @34_ave open streets. I’ve seen this couple in their motorized wheelchairs talking to people while out. And this is the 2nd time in two days I’ve seen them out with this woman riding a along on a standup scooter. @OpenPlans @StreetsblogNYC

@JimRockaway - Yay!!! Trying to do a screening of The Street Project documentary here, but my last Councilwoman’s office bailed on it, so I’ll try to connect with these sponsors! Looking forward to seeing this!

QCC was absolutely delighted to partner with Council Member Shekar Krishnan @CMShekarK, Jackson Heights Beautification Group @jhbgny, The Longest Table JH and 34th Avenue Open Streets Coalition @34_ave to bring the first ever The Longest Table to Jackson Heights! More than 300 people show up on Saturday on 34th Avenue, also known as Paseo Park for a potluck feast that reminded the power of bringing the community together. Sitting down right on the street, attendees share a meal, chat with neighbors and break bread together. #TheLongestTable #JacksonHeights #QueensNY #CommunityFirst #NeighborhoodVibes

Citibiked from downtown Manhattan to LGA in <45 min for <$6. For comparison, an uber would’ve been 47 min and $70+. Could not recommend more if you’ve only got a carry-on

NYC heat ☀️🥵 can be rough but it can also bring people together. Yesterday on 34 Ave Open Streets, a simple sprinkler turned into kids playing 💦 cyclists cooling off 🚲, skateboarders splashing by 🛹 and neighbors connecting. Public space matters. ❤️

interesting, it feels like everyone I know living in top east coast cities (NYC, Boston, DC, Philly) is either not moving to Florida or not even thinking about moving to Florida.

The problem is an outdoor dining law that works for nobody Putting chairs on the sidewalk or roadway shouldn’t require going to: DOT, community boards, city council, MOCS, the comptroller, and a public hearing, etc. There isn’t a backlog. Businesses are just stuck in this morass or can’t be approved because they haven’t supplied the mound of paperwork required under the law. The law must be fixed by the council. @NYCComptroller amny.com/news/comptroller-pr…
