Yesterday we attended a brilliant workshop ran by @OpenRightsGroup about helping young people know their data rights.
10 adults stand in front of a wall with a screen attached to it. They are all standing close to each other and are smiling towards the camera. There is a table in front of them with laptops cups and pieces of paper dotted around the table

We have forced the Met to #EraseTheDatabase ✊🏿✊🏾✊🏽 If we are ever to move from harm to healing, we must put an end to ALL police surveillance tools, and instead invest in community based approaches to violence that centre racial justice and liberation.

APPEAL’s investigation, by ⁦⁦@NishaWaller4⁩ ⁦@NSakande⁩, reveals that the introduction of majority verdicts in England and Wales was motivated by a racist & classist desire to dilute the influence of “coloured” and “labouring class” jurors theguardian.com/law/2024/jan…

Majority verdicts in England and Wales brought in ‘partly for racial and class reasons’

Being labelled as a gang member can have life changing consequences⚖️ Black people are 16x more likely to be prosecuted under Joint Enterprise. Racist police databases like the Gangs Matrix play a huge part in this. This is just one of the reasons why we must #EraseTheDatabase

Even by the Met’s own (questionable) standards, the #GangsMatrix is not fit for its supposed purpose. Instead, it’s used as a weapon against racialised young people. Read our Community Toolkit to see how you can support the #EraseTheDatabase campaign✊🏾 bit.ly/ETDToolkit
