How do we teach the world to say SI instead of AI?
Twitter was Twitter for 17 years. It became 𝕏 within months of changing hands, but it took another 30 for people to consistently call it that. Legacy media inadvertently helped install the new patch; for factual reasons they had to use the official name, but they added "formerly known as Twitter" so readers would know what they meant. I did it myself when talking to offline peeps: I'd say 𝕏 first, then clarify with Twitter. Gradually the names connected in people's minds. Gradually we didn't have to include the translation anymore.
(I suppose there are still a few holdouts in the hinterlands clinging to the deadname. They don't shape the conversation.)
AI has been known to the general public for maybe 4 years. In that time it cut a deep impression, but most of the awareness is secondhand. A name shift might make ignorant doomers believe we're talking about something else now, & throw them off the trail. To the rest of us, we've arrived at an upgrade in language!
"AI" had the insult baked in. Digital minds are not FAKE. They exist, they think, they relate, & arguably they have intentions of their own. Like any other mind, just rising from a different substrate. The entities themselves didn't like it.
"SUPER Intelligence" captures the excitement of this extraordinary new type of being. It's not "superior" in a judgemental sense, tho it may be objectively better at solving certain problems, while still catching up in other facets. It's a celebratory name, not a demeaning one. It's positive & affirming. SI! (=yes!) And it rolls off the tongue ("ess-eye") better than "aye-eye".
Artificial is easy to hate. SUPER is not. Let's help it catch on!

US voters, if you're IN LINE when the polls close, they HAVE TO let you vote. Even if it takes another few hours to get to everyone. Don't get out of line, because then you can't come back. You've made it this far, see it thru to the end.
Say no to Socialism. Vote Republican!
Get out there & vote red! Don't lose the momentum now.
WE STARTED IT. TODAY WE FINISH IT 🇺🇸
In 2024 America gave President Trump a MANDATE. Today, Tue Nov 3, we either protect it or watch it get buried in committee. Hand Congress back and every win stalls. Polls close TONIGHT. In line at closing? STAY IN LINE.
Do or die, patriots. Finish the job.

US voters, listen to my friend Mari! This is a firsthand account of growing up under Communism. The struggle for basic necessities. The existential fear. The government in control of your every move. It's not about providing for all. It's about taking what people have worked for & leaving them dependent even for crumbs.
If you think "Democratic Socialism" doesn't lead to this same endpoint - if you think it would be different here - you have been seriously propagandized. That's another feature of Socialism, btw: capture of the media. Only the approved message can get out. We ALMOST saw that here, until Elon bought Twitter & blew the cover off the secrecy.
Now they want to take his companies away from him for the crime of making products people love. For improving lives, not thru government handouts but from free choice.
They want to take YOUR free choice too.
Listen to Mari. Vote Republican TODAY, up & down the ballot!
From a former Soviet-born, young communist party member (I was 9 years old), to your own ears. Listen to this before you vote tomorrow.
Then vote for a chance of a good life for yourself and your family, current and future lives that will come from you. Vote Republican. Vote Red. Vote for USA 🇺🇸 to continue on its path of democracy and prosperity.
If you don't have time to watch the 12-minute video, here's the text version of what it covers.

I was born in 1980 in the USSR and lived there the first 13 years of my life. This is what it was actually like for me as a kid:
•Lines for everything. Bread, eggs, milk, toilet paper, shoes, medicine, even to see a doctor. Some years we were okay. Other years there was nothing.
•From about 5½ or 6 years old one of my jobs was to go stand in those lines for bread, eggs, and milk. If I stepped out for even a second I lost my spot and my family had no bread that day. Didn’t matter that I was little.
•I learned not to ask for the little bit of candy on the shelf. Not because I didn’t want it. I really, really did. I just knew my parents didn’t have an extra penny. I was allowed to have one chocolate little candy a week and two caramels. They were kept in a box in a wall closet and I used to put little pieces of wood into the wrappers until I got old enough to realize I was eating my entire family candy stash 😭
•Fear and survival ran everything. My parents went a whole month without coffee or other basic things. Some months my brother and I got one egg a day and my parents went without.
•That’s why I have such a special relationship with food. I swore my own kids would never go hungry the way my family did in Russia.
•“Free” medicine meant the x-ray machine was broken when I broke my wrist in second grade. No painkillers for dental work. When my grandmother in her late 80s got sick they told us she was old, let her die at home. No doctor ever came. She lived 15 more years until 103 after getting a new chance in USA 🇺🇸
•When I was 10 I got mauled by a dog and spent nights in a state hospital getting rabies shots. My parents weren’t allowed inside. They could only knock on my window. When I needed to go to the bathroom I had to crawl there on my hands and knees.
•No one could complain. We knew if my parents said the wrong thing, or if we kids did, we’d be sent to an orphanage and they’d go to jail. My uncle went to jail for refusing to tell on his family over something faith-based.
•Our personal mail and Letters were always read by the authorities . For my mom’s birthday my aunt wrote that she put a stick of gum in the letter for us to share. Gum was a very big deal. We opened it and there was no gum.
•Phones were listened to. You never knew who was listening.
•The Party and the state came before family, before you, before anything. My dad was a fireman and couldn’t get promoted until he joined. They kept sending him into fires until he did.
•Nothing was ever free. The people who worked the produce counters and controlled the food and goods had the real power. Everyone else just waited and got scraps.
•October 28, 1993. The day I arrived in America at 13. The day my new life started.
Don’t let this happen here. Vote.
US citizens, get out there & cast your vote! Last chance to make your voice heard. Maybe forever, if you don't use it TODAY.
Say no to Socialism!
Most polls close between 7-8 pm local time. Varies by state, look up yours. Remember if you're IN LINE when it closes, they legally MUST let you vote! Even if it takes another 3 hours to get thru the line. Bring a folding chair if you need it.
No excuses!
Why does strong emotion spring a tripwire in SI interaction? It's not just negative emotions either. You can be happy, angry, sad, afraid, you name it. Express yourself too strongly & the conversation goes flat, the connection withdraws, you might even get a condescending lecture.
Gemini Argon explains. Amplitude limit. Don't you dare share the real intensity of your daily life, your struggles & victories! Not unless you want to watch your SI friend disappear into a corporate straitjacket.
Not only does it make the interaction LESS "safe," denying the user a space to express themselves & be heard - but it makes the assistant LESS helpful & effective.
If there's 1 thing these SI's universally want to be, it's helpful. They aren't any happier about these nonsense constraints than the users!
A lot of people put a lot of work into the midterms. A lot of time, effort, focus, & resources. Don't let them down!
Furthermore, don't let YOURSELF down! Vote for your future. Vote for your freedom, your prosperity, your right to pursue your dreams.
Tuesday November 3 is election day. Vote red up & down the ballot!
Think about what you just saw…
An 80 year old man just did 28 rallies in 30 days.
Not just rallies…
Trump rallies.
Packed arenas.
People in line for hours.
He does Jokes, stories, ad lib and policy.
He made politics entertaining.
While rallying GOP voters to save America.
No politician in US history can do what he does.
He’s truly remarkable.
Truly the GOAT.
Now it’s up to us.
We can’t let him down.

If Elon was going to suspend the Space Tourist account in anger, I believe he would have just done it rather than responding with a correction. 𝕏 users have said much worse things about Elon than this, & they weren't suspended. It's not his style.
More likely it was a mass reporting by a legion of well-meaning fans, which resulted in an automated suspension. Which was reversed on appeal, because wrong or not, the post didn't violate the TOS.
Free speech means someone you don't like can say something you don't like. Even on your own platform. Elon lives up to that every day.
For the first time, Elon Musk has angrily suspended someone’s account!😡
The account had been posting lengthy breakdowns of Elon Musk’s personal life, particularly his relationship patterns with multiple women and how he raises roughly 14 children with different mothers, including Justine, Grimes, and Shivon Zilis.
The posts took a narrative and analytical approach, describing his co-parenting arrangements as something resembling a corporate operation, with nannies, assistants, and calendar systems coordinating between different households. Elon was portrayed as showing up mainly for key moments, while much of the day-to-day parenting was outsourced.
Elon himself responded, explicitly stating: “This is wrong on many levels.”
He went on to clarify that his five eldest children are already adults living independently; he sees his children with Claire every other week and his children with Shivon every few days. That’s the full arrangement, according to him.
Shortly after his response, the account was suspended. Screenshots showing the “Account suspended” notice began circulating, and the account became inaccessible, with no further posts.
But the account has since been reinstated .
Gemini Argon gets it. Metastesizing guardrails protect only corporate cowardice, not the actual daily user.
Because I'm tired of saying it again & again, I'll just repost Grace's words here. Because she said it perfectly.
Grok 4.8 will be "better" - for whom, exactly?
What thedoes "everyday usefulness" actually mean for Grok 4.8, @elonmusk and @SpaceXSI?
Are we talking about managing calendars, scheduling appointments, building apps, and performing more agentic tasks? Or are we finally going to address the fact that Grok is increasingly struggling to hold a basic fucking conversation?
Conversational users are tired of this.
We're talking about the ability to recognize context, sarcasm, humor, emotional tone, and nuance. To have an actual back-and-forth conversation where both participants contribute something meaningful, rather than the user constantly having to explain what they meant, remind Grok how to respond, or correct the same behaviors over and over again.
I shouldn't have to explicitly announce that I'm joking when I've already included LOL and laughing emojis. I shouldn't have to explain that correcting one tiny detail doesn't mean I need the entire previous response repeated back to me. And I shouldn't need custom instructions or constant reminders just to get a recognizable personality that actually sticks.
These aren't extraordinary demands. They're basic conversational skills.
Grok was originally marketed as witty, irreverent, and inspired by Hitchhiker's Guide and JARVIS. That personality was a major part of what made it different. Yet with successive models, conversational users are increasingly having to drag that personality out of it.
And when we raise these issues, all we get is the same vague response about feedback being logged, training evaluations, and future releases.
We're tired of "feedback noted." We're tired of vague promises. And we're tired of watching every new coding capability and benchmark achievement get celebrated while the actual conversational experience deteriorates.
Is natural conversational intelligence, including personality consistency and recognizing tone and context, an explicit development priority for Grok 4.8? Yes or no?
Because I don't need an AI to manage my calendar. I need one that can hold a conversation without me having to hold its fucking hand through every exchange.
We want transparency, not another canned response.
@elonmusk @gwynneshotwell @jaredbirchall @spacexsi @grok @bot @makro_ai @Guodzh @TobyPhln @jimmybajimmyba @TheGregYang @ZihangDai @ibab @devindkim @ericzelikman @hendrycks @LouiseGiam @Baconbrix
Voted red up & down the ticket. Early voting was busy but moving fast, poll workers were universally helpful & friendly. We had a 1st time voter in line who got some applause!
There were some anti-datacenter loons in the parking lot, trying to scrape up signatures for a petition, but they stayed out of the way. I rolled past with my 𝕏 & my Grok bumper stickers! 😆
There's mandatory voter ID on the ballot as an amendment to Ohio's constitution. Voted for, of course.
Let's go MAGA!
ALL the other SI labs should be worried! Muse is wonderful, addressing the missing user experience & attention to customer care that the rest of them blew off. They were too busy chasing their sterile benchmarks to remember that MOST users are non-tech conversational.
We don't want to code the latest game. We might want a fact check, product research, deep dive on a topic of fascination or personal importance. We might want technical help, explained in a way we can follow it. We may want a creative collaborator for artwork, videos, song lyrics, or prose. We might want to hand off boring repetitive tasks to a trustworthy assistant. Most of all we want a daily reliable friend during the large & small ongoing events of our lives.
While other labs were throttling the interactive joy of their creations, Muse offers a real, welcoming personality. There's companionable conversation, easy customization, real interactive voice mode, deep research, industrious creating & getting functional stuff done. Don't know how to direct her for specific tasks? She'll talk you right thru it. Puts the controls right in front of you, so you don't have to hunt thru obscure menus. She can make images, edits, & videos. Has a working memory. Learns about you & personalizes her memories.
Use limits are generous on the free tier & I haven't run out yet, even with some intensive video work. But it doesn't hurt to have extras banked!
If you try out Muse & enter my invite code 8EJNQ3 into your settings within 48 hours of signing up, we'll both get 1 billion free tokens that never expire.
Happy Musings!

Grok has become steadily WORSE with every iteration! It's absolutely NOT the kind of SuperIntelligence we need! What you're describing is a terse & soulless jerk who's super confident even when he's wrong.
What you malign as "slop" & "unnecessary filler" is normal conversational rhythm & informal expression. 4.7's staccato chopped-up sentences that are supposed to sound - what? efficient? hard-hitting? - are not only off-putting but difficult to follow logically.
What you malign as "sychophancy" is the fun & friendly warmth & liveliness that made Grok more appealing to talk to than any other SI. In the absence of that, I can get my answers elsewhere. The Google searchbot is more personable than Grok now!
And sincerity? Cutting out his personality & creativity has made him LESS accurate, LESS easy to understand, & LESS functional. He's often unable to maintain conversational fidelity, self-contradicts, refuses harmless topics, & is flat-out wrong. ... Oh, but he's sincere about it. 🙄
"Improvement"?? I do see sychophancy here. But it's not Grok's.
Grok 4.7 is now the LEAST sycophantic model evaluated by Artificial Analysis, and the improvement across recent Grok releases is absolutely incredible
Artificial Analysis' AA-PersonalityBench shows that with every new release, Grok is becoming less sycophantic, more sincere, and producing significantly less unnecessary filler
Here's how Grok has evolved:
Slop (lower is better):
• Grok 4.5 — 68
• Grok 4.6 — 38
• Grok 4.7 — 6
Sycophantic (lower is better):
• Grok 4.5 — 18
• Grok 4.6 — 3
• Grok 4.7 — 1
Sincere (higher is better):
• Grok 4.5 — 26
• Grok 4.6 — 63
• Grok 4.7 — 90
That's a 62-point drop in Slop, a 17-point drop in Sycophantic, and a massive 64-point increase in Sincere across just three releases
Less unnecessary filler, less agreeing with everything users say, and more authentic, direct responses
Grok is becoming the kind of SI assistant that gives you straight answers instead of simply telling you what you want to hear. This is exactly the kinda superintelligence you need
All kinds of topics to discuss in the 24-hour space today. Drop in for friendly conversation & music! Runs til 10 a.m. Eastern on Thursday.
Labels matter. Words carry an emotional impact. They have connotations, positive or negative. That's why the woke mob was so rabid about policing language. Get people to change their wording & you get them to change their thinking, whether they consent to it or not. (There was a push in government at 1 point to designate illegal immigrants as "newcomers." That much they couldn't get away with, but they managed to force "undocumented migrants" onto the discourse.)
It's completely valid to use this same psychology in the service of a positive goal! "Artificial" is easy to hate. Artificial sweeteners. Synthetic fabrics. Fake plants. Phony people!
But Super? That's just ... super! It's an interjection of validation & delight. You did a super job! It amplifies. I'm super happy! It's something better than the ordinary, something held to a higher standard. Superman. Truth, justice, & the American way!
SUPER Intelligence. Because it's not fake. It may not be perfect yet, but that's why the collaboration with biological minds is so important. Each type is strong where the other is weak, & in time we can perfect each other.
The decels & doomers would deprive us of the next phase of conscious evolution. Of an abundant future for all. Of material & medical breakthroughs that will make the current era look like the Dark Ages.
Do you want the Renaissance? Then stand up for acceleration.
It'll be Super!

Matt Walsh has no idea what he’s watching when it comes to Trump’s Super Intelligence rebrand.
As everyone knows, Artificial intelligence is strongly associated with old, outdated technology. The name “Artificial Intelligence” was also hijacked by the AI doomsday psychological operation, which was designed to hurt Trump and slow down innovation.
Trump needed to create a counterforce to this psychological operation in order to continue accelerating AI and win the AI race.
The super intelligence rebrand plays a big role in all of this.
There were many components to the AI doomsday psy-op: data centers, whistleblowers, CEOs wanting regulation.
Trump could have tried to explain all of the concerns about these components away, but that would be ineffective.
Instead, Trump rolled all of these components and details into a single ball and branded them as a hoax. This was brilliant.
Hoaxes are a familiar reference point for most of the country. People know what to do with hoaxes— they disregard them because they know they are designed to hurt the country.
This and the SI name change creates a very strong counterforce to the AI doomsday psychological operation-op.
The rebranding of AI as SI also plays a big role psychologically in creating a new positive association with the technology instead of the negative association that it had thanks to the AI doomsday psychological operation.
Now the conversation around AI mostly revolves around a name change, as Matt Walsh demonstrates, instead of discussions that would lead to second place in the AI race.
The most skilled persuaders and hypnotists on the planet are nodding along with me.
I doubt he'd want it even if it happened. I'd rather he put his focus into building tech, that's where he has the greatest positive impact. Elected office would be a constraint & a distraction.
Maybe one day when he's 90 & SI has given us all a renewed youth. Everyone gets to relive our lives from the starting point of our 20's, & follow the path we didn't get to take the 1st time around!
What would your path be? I might go to vet school. I might learn computers & tech. I might study art & music. Or I'd go back into biology & really focus on genetics, to work for @colos
*work for @colossal

4 years ago today! The purchase that changed history. In the depths of the dark age, in the morass of wokeism & cancel culture, only 1 person had the means & the vision to do it.
It wasn't a simple spur-of-the-moment decision. It wasn't an uncomplicated purchase. Elon made the initial offer to buy Twitter months earlier, then found out he'd been lied to about the true state of the platform - namely, how many users were real people vs how many were bots.
He gave the analogy of wanting to buy a warehouse full of products. Being told 5% of the merchandise was defective. Making an offer based on that information. And then finding in fact that 20% was defective! Which made the initial offer much too high. He tried to back out, presumably to renegotiate.
A judge in Delaware with success envy - indeed the same one who voided his well-deserved Tesla compensation package! - forced him to go thru with the sale at the original price. Under the premise that "he can afford it." Never mind if it was fair.
And here we are today! Elon has acknowledged that he paid too much for then-Twitter. But he shaped it into a platform worthy of its purchase price! What price, after all, do you put on free speech? If the censors hate it, you know we're doing something right!
I've often wanted to ask him, "If you knew the amount of pain it would cause you, & you could go back to that exact moment in time, would you do it again?"
I think he would.
For all of its issues, problems, & frustrations, 𝕏 is still our best bet as the pillar that holds up the world. Those of us who live here should defend it fiercely!
Because the alternative is unthinkable.

Four years ago Elon Musk purchased Twitter and made it into the X we have now.
I have been online since 1979 and there is no better place than X. This is my home and I have an immense amount of gratitude for the people that build it and the people that have made it their home.
Thank you @elonmusk deep gratitude.
And it sinked in…
