One thing I found strange about Dread back when the game was first revealed was why Samus' visor was now much sharper and resembled Dark Samus But after having played Dread and seeing the direction they're going in Ravenous, I understand the artistic choice and it's awesome

Although Metroid Fusion also has these shinespark challenge rooms, tonally I find them interesting between games. In Zero Mission it's like finding a hidden room in a ruins with extra treasure In Fusion it feels like you've entered the backrooms

While this clip is more standard speed boost floor, a lot of these challenge rooms in both games are found by breaking through walls which adds to both tones I mentioned

On the topic of Ridley returning as a boss in Metroid Ravenous: 1. I would not want him back as I think narratively he's run his course and I'm ok with him being put to rest 2. It's part of the series' charm that he always finds a way to come back even if it makes no sense

Gameplay-wise, Ridley has always been kind of a stat check boss in the 2D games to test how many upgrades you have, it's why he shows up late in most games + no weak point Raven Beak fulfilled that role in Dread and was the narrative focus, so Ridley wasn't really needed
