its so crazy how ao3 being down for like 3 weeks could have led to people boosting writers' other socials and connecting with them elsewhere and asking them to crosspost themselves/creating webrings but that would require readerbases having maturity levels above a third grader

i don’t disagree with respecting specific wishes. i do not upload or maintain any of these files, i took lists that were already viral and publicly available & put them together, that’s all. i did not make any snarky posts in the tone of those screenshots towards authors. i do believe what is posted on ao3 is already publicly available and that it’s not realistic to expect it to be private, but that doesn’t mean i agree with disrespecting authors or even petty discussions such as those.

An interesting phenomenon no one seems to explore from this topic is the overlapping population between fandom antis and fanfic readers who don't treat writers as real people and think they must be held to a moral standard akin to FUCKING JESUS. But was that a surprise to anyone?

Authors have known how people feel about us, but we kept going because negativity was supposed to be the minority. This incident exposed how deep that negativity runs and people are valid in not wanting to share their work anymore knowing that these are the people it's going to.
