Verhandlungsjournalismus 2023-2026:
1. Zweit- und drittrangige Akteure versuchen, ihre eigentlich aussichtslosen Vermittlungsbemühungen (was an dargestellten und gerade aus Perspektive der russischen Politik betrachtet völlig unrealistischen Bedingungen sofort klar ist) gegenüber den Kollegen als aussichtsreich sowie sich selbst als wichtig darzustellen und sich wieder ins Gespräch zu bringen.
2. Russische Regierungsquellen, die es natürlich gibt, die aber sowieso nur das bestätigen oder dementieren, was dem Kreml aktuell nützt (jenseits des Wahrheitsgehalts), sagen den Kollegen grob, dass das natürlich sehr realistisch war und keinesfalls an Moskau gescheitert ist.
3. Es wird eine coole Märchengeschichte veröffentlicht, an der vieles formell wahr ist, nichts von der aber jemals in diesem Universum umsetzbar war.
4. Die kollektive Berliner Zeitung veröffentlicht darauffolgend einen analytischen und für die eigene Leserschaft leicht gedrehten Readout, die dann von der kollektiven Sahra Wagenknecht ganz klug geteilt und eingeordnet wird.
5. Wir sind gefühlt zum 1986. Mal wieder hier. Die Details können sich vom Fall zu Fall zwar unterscheiden, der Kern aber nicht.

A mother was sentenced to 17 years in a russian prison. Her son got 19. Their 61-year-old friend got 19.
Their alleged crime? Being Ukrainian on occupied Ukrainian land.
Valentyna and Andriy Myronenko and Serhiy Smykalov were seized in occupied Berdiansk in February 2025. They were reportedly held incommunicado for two weeks before being charged. Then came 19 months of near-total silence — until their sentences were announced.
The occupation court has not even disclosed the judge’s identity or whether hearings took place. No publicly available evidence substantiates the alleged sabotage plot.
This is how russia turns occupied Ukrainian territory into a prison — and resistance into a pretext for decades behind bars.

OMG - don’t you listen what Lavrov just said: Moscow wants to continue to kill in Ukraine.
The Europeans have maneuvered themselves into a dead end when it comes to finding a solution to the war in Ukraine. They have unconditionally supported the Ukrainian position, which is a maximalist one, and this makes them ill-suited to act as mediators in negotiating a compromise settlement.
The Norwegian Prime Minister and the Finnish President have now seized the opportunity presented by last week's meeting between Witkoff and Zelenskyy in Norway to initiate an attempt to engage Russia in dialogue.
The European Union, and indeed the Europeans more broadly, including the United Kingdom, have so far failed to reach a decision on who should talk to Russia, when such talks should take place, what issues should be discussed, and in what form and through which channels these discussions should be conducted.
The recent telephone conversation with Putin is therefore certainly an attempt to establish a framework and a channel for dialogue, particularly since Vladimir Putin's foreign policy adviser, Yuri Ushakov, stated as recently as October 25 that any resolution of the war would necessarily require talks with the Europeans.
I interpret this as a shift in Russia's position, given that Moscow had previously consistently rejected the idea of discussing a settlement of the war in Ukraine with the Europeans.
t is also noteworthy, though hardly surprising, that Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen indirectly criticized the initiative, insisting that it had not been coordinated with the other European countries or discussed within the framework of the European Union.
This is regrettable, as it would have been worthwhile to see how this channel of communication between the two European leaders and the Russian side might develop.
Once again, however, this demonstrates that the European Union lacks both a coherent strategy and a clear plan.

🛰 Great news! Ukraine has launched its first satellite for its own communications network
Himera, together with Denmark's GomSpace, has launched the Obria Nano satellite into orbit.
With its help, Ukraine will be able to develop its own communications infrastructure, relying less on foreign satellite systems.
The first test satellite of Ukraine's future sovereign satellite communications network is already undergoing testing.

Peskov’s and Ushakov’s recent statements indicate that the Kremlin’s position heading into the upcoming trilateral talks remains to reject ceasefire proposals.
Furthermore, the Kremlin’s current negotiating position on the war in Ukraine continues to include Moscow’s longstanding demand from before the full-scale invasion that NATO change its charter and roll back its membership to NATO’s former 1997 borders.
