Big thanks to @WritersSalon and the 100 day writing challenge for getting me to this point 🫶
Just look at our feast for Onam! I was simply an observer in the making of every item on the leaf, but very grateful for the chance to enjoy this with family. Happy Onam everyone 🌸🪷
I’ve been a little quiet on Substack but I’m on my way back. I’ve been in Kerala for the last couple of weeks and have been learning a few recipes from home. Like this sardine curry which is more of an emotion than just sustenance. Can’t wait to recreate this at home in London!

Challenging your mates on their behaviour towards women doesn’t spell the end of your friendships. It can make them stronger.
Great to chat to @RomeshRanga about why he wanted to use his voice—and his stage—to help combat violence against women & girls, and amplify our campaign.
School’s out for the teen. She’s making brownies and singing whilst she’s doing it. I smiled when I heard her as it means she’s truly carefree. But then a sneaky thought crept in… Is this the honeymoon period of the summer hols ?? 🫣 I guess we’ll find out soon enough… TBC…

I really believe that for us to tackle toxic masculinity we have to raise all our children as the same, and instead of thinking ‘how to raise boys’ (or girls) we need to focus on ‘how to raise good humans’ beyond bias and norms. This is what I really believe.

Lovely new mould for @chocolarder of Cornwall, who use beans from the Idukki district of Kerala in India to make this complex, citrussy dark bar. Another great creation from one of my favourite UK makers

I'm feeling fond of #Londoners today after a @TfL bus driver leaned out of his window at the lights and asked me to go and check on a woman he'd seen looking upset in a cafe window. So I did, and I told her the bus driver was concerned about her - and I think it helped.
I still had 45 mins left on my parking ticket this morning. A thirty year old memory came back of dad giving his paper parking ticket to the next driver so that they could redeem whatever time was left on it. Sharing was a thing back then. Shame we can’t do that anymore.

There may have been many who missed the quirky mention of Sir Jagadish Chandra Bose in Wes Anderson's latest film,Asteroid City, set in a fictional desert town in America's West. Ironically, a century ago,America's elite scientists had waged a war against this brilliant mind.1/20
