Scottish Labour (@ScottishLabour) leader Michael Marra (@michaeljmarra) says Glasgow City Council would have received £357 million more in 2025–26 had its funding risen in line with the Scottish Government’s (@scotgov) block grant.
Deputy First Minister Jenny Gilruth (@JennyGilruthMSP) pointed to almost £15.7 billion for councils in 2026–27, including more than £1.8 billion for Glasgow, and the two figures cover different years.

Free weekend update is out. The big story is that Donald Trump is now free to be what he always was--strong supporter of Vladimir Putin and an agent pushing for Russian victory. He no longer has to pretend he cares at all about Ukrainian dead or Russian War crimes. Europe, take note.

Maybe the most amazing aspect of the Russo-Ukraine War is that Russia is getting backing from both China and the USA, the two largest powers of the moment--and Ukraine could still emerge triumphant as long as Europe backs it stoutly.

So many people on this site owe @PhillipsPOBrien an apology. He has been the loudest one who consistently has said that all of these moves – the sanctions package, PURL, etc. – r ultimately meaningless. Because Trump fundamentally will always side with Putin in the end. There are some strange anomalies in this war – the continued CIA targeting Support is one (credit Ratcliffe for during golf games somehow forcing this through, it’s a mystery how) – but let’s just be very clear. Phillips was right. There’s a lot of suckers out there. Including everyone in the GOP side who while they profess to be pro Ukraine, can never fully criticize Trump for what he is. An ally of Putin. That Trump turned to Putin to bail him out before the November elections is the greatest of all October surprises – but maybe it shouldn’t be a surprise.
