…and the CPS applies the test. The test is objective. But the danger is that the CPS, with their attachment to their own case theory, might not see the potential relevance, because from their point of view, they’re confident it doesn’t undermine their case.

Where do Lucy Letby myths - and there are many - actually come from? The always excellent @AnneBoleynBooks has diligently excavated two more pieces of pure bullshit. Vapourfacts sometimes spread by a podcast whose company was paid by Cheshire Police. reddit.com/r/LucyLetbyTrials…

A good response to the BMJ article from @Narinder_Kapur though cot cams would only prevent wrongful convictions if the footage were stored for several years.

Wow... that's SO not how discovery rules work The prosecution don't get to decide what will assist... they are called to give everything collected as part of the investigation INCLUDING and ESPECIALLY anything that might be exculpatory
NEW FOI INFO - The CPS admits its lawyers ruled that the obstetric records in the Lucy Letby case largely could NOT assist the defence, so withheld them. Numerous obstetricians post-trial have pointed to the vital nature of these notes. (1/8)

The judgement of Sir Robin Spencer, the single judge who refused Lucy Letby's first leave to appeal, has not been made public. I'm being stonewalled by the Court of Appeal who are bizarrely trying to claim the judgement is confidential.

CPS withheld Letby’s obstetric records, claiming they wouldn't assist the defence. Under CPIA s.3, it is not their place to decide what helps the defence. The test is anything that might reasonably assist. The defence decides not the crown.

How many years of obstetric training does a grade 7 Senior Crown Prosecutor have in order to determine if these medical records are helpful to the defence??? Stitched up from the beginning. #freelucyletby

And that is a worry …. that other harm might have been done by him. Surely someone somewhere has to investigate this man. He’s quite a danger at this stage.

New evidence coming to light on air embolism cases. Strengthens Letby claims, I’m told. As result - delaying Dr Dewi Evans full interview out of fairness.

The government is to introduce legislation to remove privileges from convicted killers who refuse to attend their sentencing. Lucy Letby's name is strangely absent from the press release despite her case being the trigger for new legislation. 1/2 gov.uk/government/news/cowar…

We are now ready to start sharing more on our investigation into air embolism - and whether it can really be relied on as the way #lucyletby murdered seven babies. More follows tonight.

Andy Burnham has just made an outrageous statement at PMQs, potentially one of the worst gaffes I have ever witnessed from a Prime Minister. He has presumed Joshua Kerry guilty of murdering Ann Widdecombe before he has even stood trial, live on national TV, for a global audience to witness. These were his exact words, “could I start just by recognising, with the charges that have been laid against the individual responsible for the murder of Ann Widdecombe” Read that again. He didn't say the individual accused of her murder. He said the individual responsible for her murder. Whatever your views on Joshua Kerry, the public does not know all the facts. That is precisely why we have criminal trials. A man is innocent until proven guilty. That principle applies to everyone, without exception. Yet the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom has just publicly spoken as though a man awaiting trial has already been convicted of murder. For Andy Burnham to make such a serious error while discussing matter involving ongoing legal proceedings is deeply concerning.

Caroline Cheetham spent months on the Daily Mail’s Lucy Letby podcast telling the public the police case was overwhelming. At the same time her company was taking nearly £24,000 from the very same police force including payments for “publicity” made while the trial was still running. She never disclosed it. The Mail says it didn’t even know. She was being paid by the police while presenting their version of events as independent journalism. That’s not a conflict of interest. That’s a joke. telegraph.co.uk/news/2025/05… #LucyLetby #DailyMail
No joke! Caroline Cheetham was secretly working as a police publicist while pretending to be a neutral journalist covering the Lucy Letby trial There is no universe in which a journalist covering a trial should be secretly getting paid by the police force whose case is on trial
