Leadership is a lonely position. You can’t be concerned about being liked, what others think, or losing a player. As a head coach, caring and communicating come first. Being transparent fosters respect and trust with everyone. Good context and message from Jon Scheyer.
This is GOLD “You aren’t always going to be liked as a head coach but if you are always honest, and tell the truth, you will always have their respect”

Is now a good time to remind the softball world that there was a witch hunt for @HuskerSoftball Coach Revelle a few years ago as she now coaches through super regionals? Here’s to all the coaches who deserved but never got the 2nd chance. @NFCAorg Congrats, Coach!

When parents harass college coaches using fake accounts… If I were this coach, I’d be thrilled that kid and parent are leaving. Coward move hiding behind a burner. This is exactly why college coaches talk to each other before taking transfers—they have each other’s backs for reasons like this. To that parent: you might’ve just cost your kid their next opportunity. I don’t care how good they are— if I am a college coach, I’m not touching that situation. This is also why coaches recruit parents just as much as players. And you wonder why the GOOD ones are walking away from college coaching…

Reminder: when athletic depts start slashing resources on the women’s side due to “opting in” to the House settlement, remember budget cuts has never been a legal reason to discriminate. This case is not a free pass to violate T9. See @iChampionWomen for more ways to fight back.

Again, Clemson Athletic Director Graham Neff just said he plans to add 150 full scholarships for athletes at a cost of $6 million. Clemson just added a new student fee that will bring in nearly that exact amount. Clemson students are paying for these new athletics scholarships.

The irony of all the athlete-employee conversation led by the NIL legal advocates is that they want athletes to be paid like grown adults while the system demands coaches/leadership handle them in accountability, as kids. #whichisit #canthaveboth @NILvsNLI

Imagine your life where every year is spent trying to unify a group of young people at the same time they are being bombarded with messages and behaviors that urge them to isolate. This is modern day college coaching. @PositiveCoachUS @coachk424

My feed is littered w/ “how could teachers let their students ______?” Simple. Teachers have no power. When schools/admins don’t back their teachers, students run the show. Same w/coaches. We are all in the same 🛶. @coachk424

Our athletes’ shrinking capabilities to correct and hold peers accountable for basic standards is the true culprit behind the war against coaches. When those responsibilities rest solely on one individual, we become the only reasonable target of dissatisfaction @mollygrisham

Nurses are special people. Athletes are special people. Nurse-Athletes are superheroes. No athlete or nurse should ever have to choose. Huge 💙 and light coming your way.
Dear @ilona_maher, I know you’re an Olympic champion. But I cried my eyes out when I watched your video thanking your coach, @TFCoachCarlson, for supporting your journey to be a nurse, and, a Division 1 athlete. My journey to nursing was never considered an option while playing Division 1 lacrosse. Thank you, Coach, for being the coach every athlete deserves. The world needs to know that we can be athletes and major in nursing, if we want. Sincerely, Nicole
