Congrats @AGIowa on requiring Meta, not only to pay $17B in mental-health damages, but also to limit school-time access to social media for children. I signed legislation in 2025 to keep cellphones out of classrooms, because it’s time to #LetKidsLiveRealLife
A major victory for Iowa’s kids! Today, I announced Meta has agreed to a $17 Billion settlement after we sued them for harming our kids online.
This is one of the largest state consumer protection settlements in history, and requires Meta to make major changes to improve online safety and prevent our kids from getting addicted to social media.
