Breakthrough in Maize Transformation! 🌽⚡ Schnittger’s Team at Univ. of Hamburg Reconstructs Tissue Culture in The Plant Journal (2026)! Achieves up to 671.4% regeneration frequency without relying on BBM/WUS2 morphogenic regulators! 🎯📦 Key Technological Breakthroughs: 🛠️ 8 Core Optimization Steps: Optimized semi-submerged embryo co-cultivation, meropenem substitution, a 10-day resting phase, and repeated callus splitting. 🧪 Silwet L-77 Flash Pre-Treatment: Brief 0.0001% Silwet exposure boosts infection depth, yielding up to 671.4% regeneration (4.71-14.20 independent events / 100 embryos). 🔍 TAFLP Molecular Diagnostic: Developed T-DNA Amplified Fragment Length Polymorphism to distinguish true independent integration events from clonal regenerants. ✂️ High-Efficiency CRISPR/Cas9 Editing: Validated on meiotic genes MAC1 (>94% editing rates across BASTA/Hygro) and ACOZ1 (394 bp knockout), unlocking novel meiotic nuclear dynamics. 🌾 Genotype & Selection Flexibility: Successfully adapted to B104 with compatibility across BASTA, Hygromycin, and G418 selection markers. A major milestone for streamlining crop transformation CRO workflows and functional genomics! 🚀🌟 doi.org/10.1111/tpj.71183 #MaizeGenomics #CRISPR #TissueCulture #PlantJournal2026 #AgBiotech #CropTransformation

Last night, Ukraine’s Defense Forces struck an airfield in the Voronezh region. Four Su-34 aircraft were destroyed and two more Su-34s were hit. The Russians used them to terrorize our people. These very warplanes were ready to launch new attacks on Ukraine and were loaded with aerial bombs. Our Long Neptune missile was used to strike the target. I thank the warriors of the Ukrainian Navy for their precision! Our long-range sanctions also reached a site in the Oryol region used to store and launch attack drones. A target was also hit in the Black Sea. These are our justified responses to all of Russia’s terror against Ukraine. Russia is dragging out the war, so our long-range operations will continue.

Barley comes in way more shades than you'd think! 🌾 We’re using the Oregon Wolfe Barley population, an amazing genetics teaching tool developed by the folks at OSU, to help bring plant biology to the public. It’s a perfect visual of the black lemma and pericarp locus (Blp1).

‼️A new story from our lab!🙌 We show that SNI1, a component of the SMC5/6 complex, acts as a temperature-dependent brake on class II crossovers, helping shape where genetic exchange occurs in Arabidopsis. Huge effort by Alex made it happen🙏

Apeluji na vládu, aby urychleně poskytla Ukrajině letouny L-159, které mohou pomoci sestřelovat novou verzi ruských dronů. Ty stroje jsme pořídili, aby nás bránily, ne aby hnily v hangárech. Je to v zájmu nás všech.
