We were joined by @Autism today as we handed in open letters signed by 18,234 people to 10 Downing Street. We want to bring forward reforms to help end the inhumane detention of people with a learning disability & autistic people in mental health hospitals. It's #TimeToAct.

Today an educational psychologist told me that anxiety is a ‘part of autism’. Urgh. And when I tried to explain why it’s not (unmet need and a chaotic world cause anxiety in an autistic person, not the autism itself) they told me ‘we don’t need to focus on this’

Autistic adults are truly the best resource for information about autism. Professionals may have read lots of books, and allistic family members of autists may have years of secondhand experience, but one can never best firsthand experience.
