Bryan Mbeumo to Man United is as close to a sure-thing signing as you’ll get.
PL-proven, physical, smart — and fits exactly what Amorim wants from his #10s.
Let’s break down:
🔺Some of his goals from last season
🔺Why he’s a natural fit in Amorim’s system

Red flag after red flag with INEOS.
Before the FA Cup final win against Man City, Ten Hag was under major pressure and Jason Wilcox and others involved put forward several candidates as possible replacements.
One person Wilcox spoke highly of was Russell Martin, whom he had appointed the previous summer in his role as Southampton’s director of football.

Played decent football in the first 45 minutes, but then came the typical drop-off. Had enough chances to get ourselves ahead.
But INEOS need to end this. They haven’t even been competent enough to bring new defenders into the club.
I mean, look at Maguire, Martinez and Dalot today. I don’t even blame them. They simply shouldn’t be starting for Manchester United in 2026. Simple as that.
Now INEOS are putting out briefings about investing in defenders next summer. Next summer is too late.
Carrick should’ve been gone on Monday. This cant continue.
I like that United XI, outside of Dalot at left-back, which is a microcosm of the club’s poor squad planning.
Dalot has been playing LWB under Amorim and now finds himself at LB. It just doesn’t work.
But beyond tactics, the question today is simple: will these players actually work hard?
That’s how sad the situation has become at Manchester United.

Powerful statement from Michael Carrick in his Manchester United press conference today.
"I'm not entitled to be here. Entitlement cannot be at this football club. We're not entitled to win.
We've won in the past, we've got an incredible history, but that doesn't mean that you're entitled to just win. I'm fully aware of that.
It takes hard work. It takes a lot of sacrifice."
This embodies what Manchester United should be about.
Whether it's enough to keep Carrick in the job remains to be seen. More than likely not, but he's really laid down a challenge to the players ahead of Sunday's game against Bournemouth.
Let's see how they respond.

My thoughts on Manchester United, Michael Carrick and Bruno Fernandes after the 4–1 defeat to Como.
I can talk about tactics all day, but what I watched last night went far beyond a tactical problem.
There is something seriously wrong at Manchester United.

INEOS haven’t helped matters.
For all the positive messaging about the rebuild, United still have serious issues with squad balance and defensive depth.
Talking about signing defenders next summer doesn’t solve the problems Carrick is dealing with now.
The recruitment strategy deserves serious scrutiny.
FINAL THOUGHTS
Bruno’s comments were the final straw for me.
Carrick deserves criticism for aspects of his game model.
INEOS deserve criticism for recruitment and squad planning.
But these players haven’t earned the right to publicly question the manager while failing to deliver the basics on the pitch.
You can talk tactics all day.
But without intensity, urgency, work rate and collective responsibility, tactics mean absolutely nothing.
Manchester United didn’t lose 4–1 because of a tactical system alone.
They lost because of a lack of intensity, character and collective responsibility.
And that is a far bigger problem.
