Marco Rose on Michael Carrick:
"I feel a lot of empathy for my colleagues, for everyone. Everyone has to understand that even we are just humans, and we try to do our job the best possible way.
But if a game starts, the work is done, then it's up to the lads, and then sometimes it's about the momentum, sometimes it's about a little bit of luck.
At the end, it's never easy for us again, and I feel with Michael, yes." [@sistoney67]
Michael Carrick on leaving Bruno Fernandes on the bench against Bournemouth:
"He's fit and available but we decided to pick the team that we did today. Unfortunately for everyone we didn't manage to get the right result.
We want to push forward and create more, we could've done certain things but not enough really and that's pretty clear." [@BBCMOTD via @SamC_reports]
Michael Carrick on leaving Bruno Fernandes benched:
“There's times in games when you are trying to change the course of the game and to make a difference. Those were the decisions we made today.” [sky]
Michael Carrick asked if he's going to be talking to #mufc's board about his future:
"It's a tough situation. There's no hiding from it. What it looks like, what's next, I really don't know. But I'll always do what's best for this football club.
I've said it all along, and I don't change that now. I love what I do. I love the position I'm in. I feel the responsibility. But we'll have to wait and see." [Sky]
Michael Carrick asked if his waving to fans after the game was a farewell:
It wasn't [a farewell] from me. I was really mixed emotions. I'm feeling it for the players, for my group of players. I'm really feeling it for them because they're going through a tough spell.
Some of it we can help, some of it we can help ourselves, some of it the situation unravels, and the boys are feeling it at the moment.
Mixed emotions, obviously, for the supporters to respond in that way and to have that connection with the supporters in the moment that we're in is really mixed emotions, and it's a little bit time to digest that really.
But I certainly appreciate the support. But the situation is where we are, and we haven't had results and we haven't had performances that have been good enough." [sky]
Michael Carrick:
"I have to say, it's really difficult for me to have a day like this at this football club and to feel the emotion and the dynamics of what it was like today.
Not for me personally, but for #mufc. It was, yeah, it was really mixed today. Of course, I feel a lot of responsibility.
You know, I've been at the club a long time and in the position I'm in, I feel a lot of responsibility. So it hurts an awful lot to see us going through this moment in time." [sky]
Michael Carrick: "Leny [Yoro]'s slip obviously is unfortunate. It happens. He's got a huge future, Lenny. He's a fantastic player and he's made a mistake today and he's feeling it, but he shouldn't because he's going to be a top, top player."
Harry Maguire asked if he feels responsibility for #mufc's situation:
"Of course - you have to look after your own performances and take responsibility. This is a huge club and every day you have to prove why you're wearing this badge.
At the moment we're not doing enough as players." [sky]
Harry Maguire on Michael Carrick: "Michael turned our season on its head last year and we played brilliant football and got brilliant results. This season we haven't performed well enough as individuals." [sky]
Gary Neville:
"The #mufc fans are singing the Michael Carrick song because I think they know what's going to happen here. They've seen this before.
"He's one of their own, and he's popular.
"But the owners, the sporting department and the players are not popular, and they've badly let this football club down.
"Those two [Omar Berrada and Jason Wilcox] tomorrow are probably going to make a decision that will disgust Manchester United fans, but it's probably necessary.
"It's just an absolute mess." [Sky]
Old Trafford sings “It’s Carrick, you know…” as he heads down the tunnel.
The #mufc players are then booed off [@MKeegan_Overlap]
