After 6 hours with Crimson Desert’s first DLC, I’m now sure this is the perfect open-world experience. This is exactly how every open-world game should feel.
Charting the Unknown upgrades a ton of the systems that were already there while adding a bunch of new ones — ship-building with naval combat, a full business management system that almost feels like a different game, and more. The world just feels more alive and unique than ever.
Most of my time I’m either getting lost in the unbelievable beauty of some random location or managing and opening every kind of business. I haven’t even touched the new story yet. I launch the game and something immediately pulls my attention, so I just have to go explore and see what’s there.
I’ve never felt this way about a game before. Crimson Desert is easily one of my favorite games of all time, and I already know I’ll keep playing it over and over without getting bored for a second.
