Bundling and trawling practices by police and CPS has been happening for decades. In one of our cases the Advocate Depute closing remarks were 'even though these allegations seem like fantasy and untrue, as a whole they must be believed'. And that was after filtering through S274

Scotland recorded 56 homicide victims in 2025–26. Of those, 41 were men. That's 73% of all victims, yet the Justice Secretary's specific gender-focused remarks concerned women killed by partners or ex-partners. We examine the figures and ask why. accusedscot.substack.com/p/t…

What About the Two Million Men? We know we raise this issue regularly, but we make absolutely no apologies for doing so. Joy Morrissey MP has highlighted the latest figures showing that 3.2 million women experienced domestic abuse, sexual assault or stalking last year. These are deeply concerning figures, and we absolutely want to see more done to protect women and girls. But what about the 2.1 million male victims? We don't dispute that women experience these offences at a higher rate than men. The latest ONS estimates suggest approximately 60% of victims are female and 40% are male. That's a significant difference, but it's hardly 99% to 1%. Yet from the way these issues are so often presented by politicians and the media, anyone could be forgiven for believing that male victims barely exist. And that's precisely our concern. When approximately four in every ten victims are male, surely they deserve more than complete silence? There is also an important qualification concerning the latest statistics. While offending may have increased, the ONS has repeatedly cautioned that changes to its survey questions and methodology may have contributed to the apparent rise. It is too early to draw firm conclusions about the extent of any underlying increase. The article briefly acknowledges this, but that caution is largely lost beneath headlines suggesting an escalating epidemic. We should take these figures seriously without presenting statistical uncertainty as established fact. More importantly, we need to recognise the consequences of repeatedly excluding male victims from the national conversation. How can we encourage men to report domestic abuse, sexual assault or stalking when they rarely hear politicians acknowledging that these crimes happen to them? Protecting women and girls and recognising male victims are not competing objectives. We should be doing both. So we'll ask the same question we've asked many times before. Why is our national ambition to halve violence against women and girls rather than halve violence against everyone? When the figures suggest a 60/40 split, why does the public conversation so often sound like it's 99/1? Every victim deserves to be seen, heard and protected. #JusticeLog #MaleVictims #DomesticAbuse
The crisis of violence against women and girls is real. 3.2 million women experienced sexual assault, domestic abuse or stalking last year. Labour need to wake up fast and realise their obsession with their misogyny talking shops will not make a single woman or girl feel safe. My view in the Daily Express 👇 express.co.uk/news/politics/…

If the @CPSUK and police can get charging so wrong that it takes a judge to publicly humiliate them in slapping down one charge, how does that bode for the rest of the charges? As @KingOfHits says, 'most high profile cases are based on exaggeration' gbnews.com/celebrity/russell…

The UK gov is putting £15m into an anti-misogyny fund. Its Men's Health Strategy gives £3.6m over three years to suicide prevention for men, about £1.2m a year. 4,599 men died by suicide in England & Wales in 2024, three-quarters of all suicides. Priorities?

How Many More Warnings Before the Scottish Government Takes Action? Thomas Ross KC has raised concerns about potential miscarriages of justice. Roddy Dunlop KC, Dean of the Faculty of Advocates, has warned about the erosion of corroboration. The Faculty of Advocates itself has previously expressed concerns about removing established safeguards. Now Douglas McConnell, a criminal defence solicitor with more than 20 years' experience, has added his voice, warning that Scotland's criminal justice system may be becoming less effective at protecting innocent people from wrongful conviction. These are experienced legal professionals, not simply disgruntled defendants. Perhaps each individual reform can be justified on its own merits. But Justice Log keeps warning about the overall direction of travel. When safeguards are weakened or removed, one after another, we need to consider their cumulative effect. Supporting complainers and protecting vulnerable witnesses is important. But so is protecting innocent people from wrongful conviction. At what point do we stop looking at these reforms individually and start asking whether Scotland's criminal justice system is becoming increasingly vulnerable to miscarriages of justice? #ScottishJustice #MiscarriagesOfJustice #FairTrials

A Police Scotland officer admits attempting to defraud a fellow officer of £2,300 by falsifying financial documents — and is admonished by a court. Honesty and integrity are fundamental to policing. This behaviour is the very definition of gross misconduct. Police Scotland must explain what disciplinary action has been taken, whether this officer remains in service and what consequences she faces. The public has a right to know. There must be complete transparency about the consequences. If the standards of honesty and integrity demanded of every officer mean anything, they must be enforced — without exception. @MailOnlineScot

Everything that was wrong with the @PoliceScotland & @COPFS misconduct investigation into an allegation by two Police Custody & Security civilian staff (PCSOs), that I assaulted a prisoner as he made repeated attempts to strangle himself in the cells.

The Scottish Government admits it doesn't know how many people may have been denied a fair trial. Let that sink in. SCCRC applications have now risen to 44, and discussions have taken place about handling groups of cases, with reference to the Post Office Horizon scandal. How can the Government address the consequences of a landmark Supreme Court judgment when it doesn't even know the potential scale of the problem? This is precisely why I launched my petition. We need answers, accountability and action. Because behind every potentially unsafe conviction is a human being and a family whose lives may have been destroyed. A conviction does not automatically mean justice has been served. @JIMSOfficial Support my petition: petitions.parliament.scot/pe… And read the article: heraldscotland.com/news/2666… #ScottishJustice #FairTrialRights #MiscarriagesOfJustice #JusticeReform #SCCRC #SupremeCourt #JIMS #JusticeForInnocentMen #PE2265

Again, another bullshit headline covering a very serious scandal that has seen countless MOJ's and unfair trials going back to 2013. After the Faculty of Advocates won a SC judgement on this, it's been ignored, and of the 100's of appeals being sought, only a few have been lodged

Nobody ever imagines they'll find themselves caught up in the criminal justice system. Until one day, everything changes. One allegation. One knock at the door. One phone call. And suddenly, life as you know it is turned upside down. Over the past couple of years, I've spoken to so many individuals and families going through exactly that. And as much as I want to help everyone, the volume of messages I receive has become impossible to keep up with alongside my daytime job, family commitments and the work I do for JIMS. So, after a lot of thought, I've decided to dedicate more time of my working week to do what I believe in - helping those who are looking for my support. Therefore, I'm really pleased to finally introduce my own wee project - Truth Be Told 🖤 My main focus will be on supporting people who have been accused of crimes they maintain they haven't committed, particularly those who haven't yet faced trial. I genuinely believe that getting the right support, understanding the process and being properly prepared before it's too late can make all the difference. I'm not a solicitor, and I certainly don't have all the answers. But I do have lived experience, practical knowledge, connections with people who can help, and a genuine desire to make this difficult journey a little less overwhelming for others. Also - social media is power, and I know what it can achieve, but I'd like to put more of my thoughts and experiences into writing, so I'm going to try sharing more through my website blog instead. Hope you enjoy reading as much as I do. This is a very personal new chapter for me, and something I've put a lot of heart into. I'd love for you to have a look at my website, and please share it with anyone who might need it. tbtscotland.co.uk/

Depp v Heard shows that this man would have probably lost this claim in the UK unless there was a significant piece of evidence showing the woman was lying. The UK judiciary, worse so the Scottish, is lost to ultra feminist ideology! nypost.com/2026/10/18/us-new…

📷 SCOTLAND: SEXUAL OFFENCE CONVICTIONS SOARING 📷 +31% Sexual-crime convictions 📷 +78% Rape and attempted rape convictions Scottish Government figures, 2014–15 to 2023–24. 📷 Has sexual offending really increased by this extent? Or must we also examine changes in evidential rules, prosecution practices and the drive to secure more convictions? 📷 WHEN THE SYSTEM MAKES CONVICTIONS EASIER TO SECURE, WHO PROTECTS THE INNOCENT? Lowering barriers to securing convictions, or restricting what the defence can challenge, can create serious risks if relevant evidence is kept from the jury. And if someone deliberately makes a false allegation, could they exploit a system in which the accused faces barriers to properly challenging the evidence against them? We must never assume every complainer is lying. But neither should we assume every allegation is true. A justice system must seek the truth, not simply more convictions. The presumption of innocence, the right to challenge evidence and a fair trial must never become secondary considerations. 📷 Justice for genuine victims. Justice for the falsely accused. One must never come at the expense of the other. #JusticeForInnocentMenScotland #FairTrial #PresumptionOfInnocence

📷 JIMS AT THE FACT CONFERENCE IN BIRMINGHAM! On Saturday, 10th October, two of our JIMS directors had the pleasure of attending the FACT Conference in Birmingham. FACT (Facing Allegations in Contexts of Trust) is an organisation dedicated to supporting people affected by unfounded allegations of abuse, particularly those in positions of trust. They have been fighting for those affected by false allegations for an incredible 27 years. We were truly honoured to be invited, to have our work recognised, and to have our documentary, Don't Tell the Jury: 274/275 — The Silent Scandal, screened at the conference. Although the laws and legal systems in Scotland and England differ, one thing remains the same: the heartbreak and devastation caused by false accusations and wrongful convictions know no borders. Families are torn apart, reputations destroyed, careers lost and lives changed forever. Whether in Scotland, England or anywhere else in the world, the human cost can be equally devastating. Events like this remind us how important it is to stand together, share experiences and support one another across borders. We look forward to receiving the official footage from the conference, which we will share as soon as it becomes available. In the meantime, we'll be sharing a few little snippets from our day in Birmingham! A huge thank you to FACT for the invitation, the warm welcome and, above all, for 27 years of dedication to those affected by unfounded allegations. Different laws. Different countries. The same heartbreak. The same fight for justice. For anyone who hadn’t yet watched the documentary here is the link, let’s keep raising awareness 📷 youtu.be/T4BGFGAphUA?is=fWhM…

No person accusing any person of a serious crime should every have anonymity in court. Such a rule is against open justice and it needs to be abolished! Many jurisdictions work perfectly well with open justice!

An urgent review of the anonymity order for the accusers of Alex Salmond is now essential. Witness pressured by Murrell & others, proven not to be present at the time of the allegations she made, and in receipt of £100k of @scotgov funds is not credible. dailyrecord.co.uk/news/alex-…

An absolutely extraordinary piece of television
I read of the death of journalist Annette Witheridge, aged 66, with very mixed emotions. Much has been written about her distinguished Fleet Street career, particularly her role in securing the now infamous photograph of Prince Andrew & Jeffrey Epstein in Central Park. But my memories of Annette Witheridge are rather different. In 1987, she published a front-page story falsely claiming that I was dying of AIDS, then widely & cruelly described in the press as the “killer disease” or the “gay plague”. It was untrue. I maintain that she knew it was untrue, yet no correction followed. The consequences of such reporting were devastating, not only for me but for my family including my mother and my brother. At a time when ignorance, fear & prejudice surrounding AIDS were rife, such allegations carried an especially vicious stigma. In 1988, I had the opportunity to confront Annette Witheridge face to face on Channel 4’s live discussion programme After Dark. I took the original newspaper cutting from my pocket & challenged her directly about the story, the absence of verification & the damage it had caused. It was an extraordinary confrontation, broadcast live and unedited. Nearly four decades later, I have not forgotten it. I do not dispute that she enjoyed considerable professional success, nor do I begrudge those who knew & loved her their warm memories. But journalism must be judged not just by the scoops it produces or the powerful people it exposes. It must also be judged by its accuracy, integrity & the consequences for those whose lives become its subject. As tributes are paid to her career, I believe it is right that this chapter of her journalistic history should not be forgotten. Her death is a sadness for her family & friends, to whom I extend my condolences. But death does not erase history, nor should it prevent an honest examination of the conduct of those whose work had such profound consequences for others. The truth matters, as it did in 1987 & as it matters just as much today.
