Saturday Spotlight💫: Presenting the first mouse model of #AddisonsDisease: doi.org/10.1172/jci.insight.…
Arina Andreyeva @AndreyevaAri, @ondrejStepanek, @AdaptiveImmuni2, et al., explore how immune cells destroy the adrenal glands in Addison's disease, identifying IFNG as a promising target for future therapies.🧵
Our latest study and second cover in our lab history.
Presenting the first mouse model of #AddisonsDisease: doi.org/10.1172/jci.insight.…
This issue’s Cover features work from Arina Andreyeva @AndreyevaAri, @ondrejStepanek, @AdaptiveImmuni2, et al., reporting on how immune cells destroy the adrenal glands in Addison's disease and identifying IFNG as a promising target for future therapies.
The cover image shows an adrenal section from a mouse with experimental autoimmune adrenalitis five months after immunization with CYP11A1-derived peptides. Granulomatous lesions appear as green due to intrinsic autofluorescence. Nuclei (DAPI, blue); steroidogenic adrenocortical cells (CYP11A1, red).

Our latest study is out! We developed and characterized the first defined mouse model of autoimmune Addison's disease and found that the pathology depends on IFNgamma.

An immunocompromised man with neuroinvasive West Nile virus received donor derived virus specific T cells.
West Nile targeted T cells appeared in blood and MRI lesions improved, suggesting immune therapy may help fight persistent infection.

Our beloved Cytek Aurora cytometer (*2019) is dead—electronics burned out. Does anyone have an unused/broken Aurora that could be a donor for the electronic guts transplantation? Please retweet.
We are happy that we could contribute a little bit to this story. The collaboration goes on and is funded by Czech Science Foundation #GACR.

There was some progress in the Czech science in the last decade(s), but still a lot of work needs to be done to make it on par with scientifically developed countries. Still many Czech science generals have no clue about what good science means.
The ERC's new white paper examines the gap in participation and success rates between Europe’s strongest research systems and a group of countries performing less well. It also calls for coordinated efforts at national and European level.

The same western blot image used 23 times in 14 different papers by one Japanese team. The image has been labelled as representing a range of experiments and proteins. This is the most I have ever seen. Perhaps it is a record?
14th EFIS-EJI Tatra Immunology Conference
Since there are still a few spots left, we extended the registration deadline to March 15. Don't miss this reboot of the legendary conference series that formed generations of immunologists in (central) Europe.

AI is cool and all... but a new paper in @ScienceMagazine kind of figured out the origin of life?
The paper reports the discovery of a simple 45-nucleotide RNA molecule that can perfectly copy itself.
