My name is Bri! I am a comic artist and illustrator. As a way to process my ADHD diagnosis I started a semi-autobiographical comic, that you can read either here on Twitter (hidden between ramblings) or more easily on my other social media sites, like Instagram, listed in my bio.

The amount of hoops one has to jump through (physically, emotionally, financially & mentally) to receive adequate medical care is astounding. I’ve been on a downward health spiral for a few years and only just now found a doctor who cares enough to try figuring out what’s wrong.

Luckily my rant has a happy end. I found a really great doctor (after 6 months of really scary heart stuff) and while I’m not to where I was a few years a go, I’m no longer terrified to go to sleep or move or eat or anything else that set off my heart.

One of the worst parts of battling chronic illness and long covid heart issues is that all the progress I made with my ADHD feels thrown out the window. Can’t be medicated, can’t self medicate (caffeine), and my brain fog and inattention is worst than ever.

I’m lucky to be trying a therapy called Enhanced External Counterpulsation (EECP) for my Long Covid. Only a few sessions in (out of 35!), but I’m hoping it will help.

Balancing ADHD as well as worsening chronic illness has proved to be tough, but I’m still around and kicking. Been spending lots of time on my hobbies in the past year (DnD and art!). Hope my fellow ADHDers have been well!

ADHD people with ADHD partners: How do y’all split up the mental load when it comes to holiday shopping? Are you both good about it? Is it a struggle?

I received my official Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome dx yesterday over two years after developing it post pregnancy. I’ve been off my ADHD meds for months waiting to have my test done and now it’s all done and over with. I can take my meds again. I’m so relieved.

While my meds do mess with my HR, they actually help with the compounded brain fog and fatigue from POTs that combined with ADHD can be debilitating.

I hate this part of making comics...it costs us so much courage and effort to share our experiences and research the science behind it, just for someone to think they can pluck it like an apple from a tree for easy ADHD social media content

If the main intent of a ADHD creator’s overall content is to get you to buy something, not to spread awareness, that is very suspicious.

Making comics just isn’t fun anymore when you know bigger accounts are just going to take your experiences and use them.

In the past I had a problem with a particular creator who would make content soon after me using the same topics I covered.

I don’t own the ND experience, so I have never made an issue of it. It was just super demoralizing to see them capitalize on content that I made to spread awareness.

What's the difference between ADHD and autism? How are they similar? What's it like to be both an ADHDer and autistic at the same time? Let's dig in! #cosmictakeover (1/12)
