About once a month I get a text from some number I don't recognize, with a question that is clearly intended to trick me into replying. Some texted questions I've received lately include: - "How come I can't get in touch with you?" - "Are you off tomorrow?" - "Sorry, I have your number in my contacts but can't place it. Who is this?" - "Sorry could you tell me who you are? I have your number in my phone but no name saved" - "Why does it always say the call cannot be completed when I try? Did you block me?" And today: - "Your car is blocking my driveway. Can you come move it ASAP?" Clearly these people are fishing for a reply--any reply. But why? What do they gain if I reply?
