Big congratulations to Air Congo, the DRC’s new national airline.
The airline welcomed its first wide-body aircraft, a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner acquired through its strategic partnership with Ethiopian Airlines (ET). DRC’s President H.E. Félix Tshisekedi attended the welcoming ceremony at N’djili International Airport (FIH) in Kinshasa.
The airline was launched only 18 months ago as a joint investment partnership between the government of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Ethiopian Airlines, Africa’s largest carrier and amongst the world’s 10 largest airlines by number of international destinations.
Air Congo is a tangible example of how Africans can jointly invest in Africa: Pan-Africanism beyond slogan.
Air Congo now has six aircrafts: 3 Boeing 737s, 1 Boeing 787-8 and 2 ATR 72s.
DRC should be a good lesson for Nigeria’s airline industry: Nigeria too by now will have had a very successful, profitable national airline like Air Congo, if ET, in partnership with the FGN and prominent Nigerian investors, were not derailed three years ago by a couple of self-interested, on the verge of collapse (by their own admission) private Nigerian airlines.

"The 8th Edition of the Namibia International Energy Conference 2026 provides an opportunity to deepen our understanding of a sector that is often viewed with both optimism and caution. While narratives of the “resource curse” persist, Namibia must define its own trajectory.
We must approach this sector with clarity and discipline, ensuring that our resources become a foundation for national development, institutional strength, and long-term prosperity." - President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah

Africa’s investment story is not a capital problem.
It is a structuring and execution problem.
Our GP @GOduneye moderated a panel at the @AfricanBChamber to discuss the next phase of investment into Africa.
Capital exists. Alignment is the constraint.

Africa’s economic transformation rests on aligned institutions, accountable private-sector engagement, and partnerships focused on delivering concrete outcomes.
My engagement with the Assistant Secretary-General & Executive Director of the United Nations Global Compact, H.E. Sanda Ojiambo, reinforced the importance of aligning global business networks with Africa’s priorities under Agenda 2063.
We exchanged views on rationalising fragmented engagement platforms, strengthening corporate accountability principles, and advancing joint action to mobilise African and international capital — positioning development not as aid, but as an investable opportunity that delivers measurable impact.
AUDA-NEPAD remains committed to a practical, results-oriented collaboration with the UN Global Compact — focused on coherent continental coordination, stronger public-private cooperation, and on ensuring that Africa’s enterprise, innovation, and investment potential are fully reflected in global economic discourse.
