Alex Cheatham provided a steady presence at the point guard position during the NXT Pro 16 Live Period in Richmond, Virginia. The 2027 6’1” point guard played with poise and made positive plays, helping keep 3D Empire (TX) organized throughout the event.
Cheatham played under control with the ball in his hands, keeping the offense flowing and making solid decisions throughout the game. He took what the defense gave him and put his teammates in good positions. He did a good job getting his team into its offense and keeping everyone involved.
When opportunities opened up, Cheatham attacked the basket with confidence. He got downhill effectively, finished around the rim, and used his control to create quality scoring opportunities in the paint. He also showed the ability to step into and knock down perimeter shots when defenses gave him space.
Cheatham plays with a tough, relentless mentality on both ends of the floor. Defensively, he competes, embraces physical play, and stays active throughout the game. His effort, energy, and willingness to do the little things allowed him to make a positive impact throughout the event.
Cheatham’s performance in Richmond showcased the value of a point guard who plays under control, competes with toughness, and makes winning plays with the ball in his hands.

2027 6’1” PG Alex Cheatham gives 3d Empire a steady presence at PG. Makes the right play consistently. Doesn’t try to do too much. Quality shooter who can make contested shots. Plays with a high motor and operates well in a structured offense. Gets his team into their sets and cuts well off the ball. Willing to defend. Simply is very active on the court.

📸 James McCall Spears - @LCPatriotHoops
His feel and skill level as a big made him one of the college coaches’ favorite evals this weekend.
📸 Jax Richards - @_AHSBASKETBALL
Impressed with how he operates as a shotmaker on the wing. One of West TX’s best in 2027!
📸 Austin Stewart - @WestBrookHoops_
Bouncy and active big that gets a lot done on both ends. Made some splash plays above the rim!
📸 Justin Reed - @BballPlanoWest
Bonafide playmaker when he gets a step on a defender. Moves different in this 2029 class!
Camden Hardy - @txstormbball
Making real progress in his development. Looks more and more like a scoring threat every time I evaluate him.
Marwane Fadika - @KatyJordanHoops
So consistent with how he goes about his business. Polished scorer that makes his team better.
Xander Pruzinksy - @FriscoMemo_BB
High level shotblocker, rebounder, lob threat, etcetera etcetera… also had an OT game winner today.
Memorial has a real case to be the no.1 5A team in the state.
Alex Cheatham - @LovejoyHoops
Smooth getting to his spots and really adept at creating space for himself & teammates.
Alex Aluga - @LibertyRedhawk
Sky’s the limit for him. 6’8 forward that can score on the drive or in the post. Great physical tools.
Ebube Joseph - @GrandOaksHoops
Strong and productive as per usual. Will rip and go finish through contact.
Cash Clark - @FwoodBoysBball
Gets so much done for his team. Grades well as a rebounder & defender and is playing with a ton of confidence on offense.
Natayvious Allen - @OakCliff_FFA
Showed great open court instincts to make decisions and use his athleticism to score.

Lovejoy’s very own, Alex Cheatham (6’2”) embodies the true definition of a combo guard, blending elite poise with the ability to impact the game as both a scorer and playmaker. He consistently gets to his spots, whether that’s knocking down a smooth three-pointer, rising confidently into an efficient mid-range jumper, or creating offense off the bounce. Around the rim, Cheatham showcases exceptional touch and creativity, finishing through traffic with an impressive array of finishes using both hands. @AlexCheatham_1

2027 6’1” G Alex Cheatham has a smooth mid range game for 3d Empire 17U. Consistently gets to his spots and converts at a high rate. One of the smoother mid range jumpers I’ve seen. Stood out in transition with a strong two foot finish through contact drawing a foul.
