Replying to @CAgovernor
@CAgovernor Newsom signs SB 1524, making it all right for restaurants to bait and switch on menu prices rather than reveal full cost of meals to customers.

California made deceptive pricing (junk fees) illegal last year with SB 478, but mere DAYS before it's set to go into effect on July 1, our legislators are bending over backward to rush through an exemption for restaurants, some of the worst service fee offenders!

I am very disappointed in California's legislature for caving in to the demands of shady restaurateurs who want to continue imposing junk fees on their customers. I will be boycotting all restaurants that charge junk fees.

Commentary:
We shouldn’t be fooled by the newspeak descriptions of SB 1524. It does not “enhance consumer protection.” It would purposely undermine consumer protection by allowing restaurants to resume their bait-and-switch tactics. cal.news/3yZ5bdN

THIS BILL SB1524 NEEDS TO BE STOPPED
Don't let restauraunt lobbyists stuff your bill with crazy fees again. It is very easy to simply include the price of all fees in the item prices LIKE EVERY OTHER INDUSTRY
@Scott_Wiener please stop!

Everyone should hit up their state senator in CA to tell them to NOT vote for SB 1524 that allows those junk services charges, health care surcharges, security charges, etc. to be added in the fine print to their restaurant bills! They law that goes into effect July 1st banned this but now they want to give restaurants an exception! Vote no!
BREAKING NEWS: Sen. Bill Dodd, D-Napa, introduced SB 1524 today to enhance consumer protection for California restaurant patrons by clarifying state law on the disclosure of hidden fees and other service charges.

Love that @Scott_Wiener and @MattHaneySF have been strong supporters of new housing but extremely disappointed they want to EXEMPT restaurants from the CA junk fee ban. Tell them to kill #SB1524. The menu price should be the price.

I think what you meant to say was "This will enable restaurants to continue to have patrons subsidize employees rather than increasing their pay and benefits contributions".

5 years ago we set out to build a new kind of computer and OS for a future that was app-less and driven by AI.
it's been really hard - like they say, harder than you think it will be - and we are seriously just at the beginning.
but it's important take a moment and celebrate the joy of the milestones like this. for us, that most of the time means mister softee @SofteeNorCal 🍦
