My next novel, SOMETHING NEW UNDER THE SUN, is out from @hogarthbooks on 8/3! It starts out as a Hollywood novel and then becomes...a total disaster. Fake water, teenage detectives, hallucinatory capitalism, aging child stars—and an overall preapocalyptic vibe 🔥🔥🔥

The naysayers are getting embarrassing. Every day, people are using AI to make incredible breakthroughs and answer some of the toughest questions around, like "what do I like about my child?"

Don't "fine" Google. Instead - arrest, convict, and imprison every Google executive responsible. They can't keep getting away with this kind of evil.
Google did this to build a data center in Finland. It was illegal, but they did it anyway. Big Tech is out of control.

But seriously have you considered that it’s simply too expensive for most people to not eat foie gras?
I am voting against the foie gras ban because I am offended that anyone is spending time, money and energy on this. I don’t eat that nastiness, I hate the process, but this is not a good use of resources

Everyone belly aching about the DC foie gras ban as trivial - feel free to advance your own issue & get engaged with your own government. There is nothing stopping you. Criticizing others for advocating for their values while not being active yourself is just having a tantrum.

The plan? Force feed ducks to stop federal agents from terrorizing our streets
I will vote no because I like foie but mainly because I agree with this sentiment. There’s national guards occupying our streets, ICE terrorizing neighbors, DC is facing a fiscal crisis. We have to use our city’s resources better than implementing this. Vote NO on Initiative 86.

In a time where we feel so helpless to achieve larger change, it feels like literal insanity to vote against something that would reduce cruelty measurably—just because there are other things you would rather change as well?

Beautiful story here on orang utans, by Nicola Davis, and heartbreaking again to recognise what wonders we are losing to wanton planetary destruction in the name of “economic growth” theguardian.com/science/2026…

Before Google’s arrival a few months ago, an estimated 250,000 trees occupied the 330 hectares (815 acres) of forest near Muhos in rural northern Finland. Now they are all gone, the tech company illegally stripped the entire area to build a datacentre theguardian.com/environment/…

To be clear, the only reason I was able to reach Heidi was because young Palestinians provided cover with rocks against machine-gun- and tear-gas-wielding settlers and soldiers. It’s those kids, not the settler terrorists, who the IDF was hunting after the attack.
