I'm more of a behind the scenes person. never thought I'd be spending time in front of the camera, but here we are. it seems to help spread the word for the artists in the gallery. am testing it, and trying to build confidence in doing it

what a character!
I had a request to repost this photo (a purple swamphen at Mount Gambier from years ago). This is me when I see the aggressive driver that sped past me pulled over by the cops up the road 😂 (Actually - this hasn't happened - but I keep wishing it would.)

wow. have been behind the times in transcription services. whisper just transcribed & saved a ~30min audio recording in about 12 mins all up. revolutionary! have quite a few old ones to transcribe (where I'd lost files years ago). will be adding to vwsrc

another thing I noticed is posting yourself on insta does gain more interest. oh dear. I'm more of a behind the scenes person by preference

one thing I noticed when going back through old articles to publish on vwsrc is that I used to post much more regularly, even short posts/notes. may be able to get back to this, is good for referencing later

the articles are still posted on my main aliak site, but adding them here 'clears the desk' so to speak, so I can see them all in one spot & start writing more. my main site is quite cluttered, feels like a virtual desk at times

Taking suggestions for 2026 Aus Lit to add to this pile! Just read Patrick Hunn's incredibly fun and strange story collection, so pretend that's on the pile too

Sadly Australia has lost experimental film and video artists and archivists, Arthur and Corinne Cantrill in 2026 & 2025 respectively. They made beautiful films - I saw some performances years ago at The Other Film Festival in Brisbane (organised by Joel Stern), and they archived and documented independent & experimental / expanded film and video performances & installation art via their Cantrills Filmnotes publications. If you're into expanded cinema, experimental film and video art or archiving of Australian cultural artefacts, I'd encourage you to take a look through these and save them for the future too from the Filmnotes website: arthurandcorinnecantrill.com… CANTRILLS FILMNOTES is a review of independent film and video, with emphasis on experimental film, video art, digital media, and associated work in performance and installation art. Publishing History: It was edited and published between 1971 and 2000 by filmmakers Arthur and Corinne Cantrill in Melbourne, Australia (although some issues were edited in the USA in 1973-'75 and Germany in 1985 while the editors were living there.) The final issue is octuple issue #93-100. Past issues have covered activity in Australia, New Zealand, U.S.A., Canada, Japan, The Philippines, Indonesia, France, Germany, The Netherlands, Austria and England. Editorial policy: To document innovative work in Super-8 and 16mm film, animation, video, digital art, installation, sound and performance art. orgs mentioned: Cantrills Filmnotes: arthurandcorinnecantrill.com… Other Film: otherfilm.org (my) photos of Other Film Festival: flickr.com/search/?sort=date… #readinglist #film #video #experimentalFilm #expandedCinema #CantrillsFilmnotes
